I just called KKH. They told me to call the SK clinic to confirm the date for the IQ test. When i called SK Clinic, they say no slots until July??

I am still waiting for my IQ test which should happen next month. Although I made up my mind to let him go mainstream, but in case I really change my mind, I don't know if I have time or chance to enrol into pathlight or not. I am getting stress and jitters again. I better call KKH CDC for the date on the IQ test.
July is P1 enrollment and I am supposed to see doctor in June to conclude IQ test. If IQ test is in July, then how am I to decide which sped school or mainstream for my son??

The nurse is kind enough, say will look into this. Hopefully she can get in a slot in May. Now I am stressed up ... Will my son have his IQ test in May in time for P1 enrollment or not.
Today is my son first OT lesson in KKH-Rehab. Hopefully it will be helpful for him. -

I've recently encountered this myself but it's at the epic centre. Apparently another kid from the group used the not so nice language that my son used. The mum complain and now my son is pulled out from the group and is on his own for 80% of the duration. I can't say anything or be angry with anyone cos it's my son's own doing.Dear nugget,
You have not meet such parent like that, when you tell them your child is ASD, they immediately go to the school and request to change class/ withdraw their child from the center, because they don't want their child to pick up bad behavior from ASD child! Guess what, that mother is a pre school teacher! -

But Summer, what are the therapists at the Epic doing? I feel that they should explain to the parent that all the kids here have special needs and they are here to learn. Though it is inevitable that they may learn bad habits from one another, it is not right for the therapist to succumb to the mother's threat and ostracize your kid. How can your kid learn how to behave socially when he is alone most of the time at the Epic centre? In fact, the therapists should find ways to correct your son if he says the wrong thing again.

summertan, did they say how long they will keep your child like this? It does sound strange to keep you child isolated like that, but if its for reasons to cool things off, then maybe there should be a set timeline else your child would not be able to benefit from the EIPIC curriculum if this goes on.

I recall there one time I’m at rainbow centre admin / cashier area a lady keep staring at my son n she seems like in agony … I thought she is rainbow staff but later I found out she a parent …
My son was greeting n hi 5 w rainbow staff at that times…
Later I feel so bad I dunno her son conditions! I shd hav be sensitive not to let my son connect w rainbow staff at that time -

It's the decision of the teacher, the OT seems helpless. Apparently the teacher said to help my child with the behavioral issue first before they deal with his social interaction issue. For how long? She said till he understands how to behave and manage his anger before he is being put back in the group. They do try to include about 1-2 group activities throughout the whole 3 hours.
Well of cos as a mother or any mum would be upset. But if that's the way to help him I really don't mind. Currently I'm really at a loss or even lose the judgement to see which method is fair/unfair/good/bad for my child. Maybe because I've faced too many rejections and strange looks from many parents. Who says parents of special needs children are not aware and forgiving? In fact I feel they r more protective. At least the one I saw at the eipic centre is like that, where my son's presence seems to be disturbing her. -

If no delay, should be ok I guess. There is 1 sign that you may want to look into. If he crawl first before sitting up at 6-7mths. Hardly have cooing sound. Then again, every child is different. you are already experienced mom, trust your intuition and relax.braverymom:
Yup! I am currently dealing with 2 ASD and 1 NT boys. All active. It is very frustrating at times, but with the help from people around me, especially husband, that make life easier. In fact my NT boy is more difficult to deal with.

Can I ask how old are your boys? Like you I have 3 kids. My eldest is diagnose with HF ASD @3.5 years old. My #2 is okay. My #3 who is coming to 1, I am monitoring closely. When did u discover your 2nd ASD show symptoms? My #3 is not even 1, I really can't tell if he has ASD or not. So far he is reaching all his milestones. -

First boy P1, not my son, but I help to communicate with the school teacher and do SEL with him. Second one is my son, k1, 3rd is also my son, NT, 2 yrs old. -

summertan, if the teachers are clear on what they are doing and what they are striving towards that direction, then maybe no harm letting the professionals take the approach and see what happens.

Sigh, there are also some problems arising at my EIPIC center. So now keeping a tab. But it does add anxiety and insecurity when such things happen.
