      hi waynemum,

have moved your topic. take the birds’ nest only if mums-to-be have taken it before, lest it triggers an allergic reaction.

chief, if there’s an existing topic, pls feel free to merge. thanks.

        Hi waynemum,

Yes, agree with mathsparks on the birds nest'. My DS had eczema as a baby and the 1st quest the paediatrician asked and kept on asking whenever he had an attack was whether I had taken birds' nest when I was pregnant.

Your SIL due in March rite?? Don't wait so late to take the coconut water. Take from today 😄 I took it from the last trimester ie 7 mths onwards 3 to 4 times a week and true enough, DS came out clean. Its old wives tale, but seems to work. Seems that its also good for the womb or something. Also drank warm soyabean every single nite for fair skin so much so that the soyabean lady would set aside one cup for DH to collect every nite 😄 DS came out 'radiant' and v v white too compared to now.

Also drank red raspberry tea leaves to relieve discomfort. It is also said to strengthen and tone uterine walls and help delivery easier and faster.

Drank loads and loads of water and walked and walked to prevent water retention and swollen feet. Did loads and loads of 'made me happy' things like mani pedi, facial, massages (v v gd for blood circulation, but must go to pre-natal massage specialist)

I don't know if this is your SIL's first baby. I can give you a long list, but if given a choice waynemum, the most impt piece of suggestion I can provide is to be POSITIVE. That is v v impt. I really believe that it impacts on the baby in the long run. To cut the story short, if mummy is happy, baby will be happy and will grow up happy provided the positive philosophy is maintained. Also eat healthily - its a must.

I speak from my own personal experience. Actually there is just too much stuff to share lah really 😄 😄

If I can remember any other really impt ones, will add on.

                Add my list:

                * I stayed off bottled chicken essence cos heard that baby could also be prone to eczema.

                * Bird's nest I took for number 1 - he had eczema problems. For number 2, not as much bird's nest - no problems.

                * Coconut water can start about 3 weeks before due date, once a week more than enough. Cannot too cooling also.

                * From 8months, I started weekly avocado juice. That's about when bb hair starting to grow, avocado supposed to promote hair growth. number 2 (took regularly) had loads of hair compared with number 1 (didn't take)

Guess the differences betw number 1/2 could be due to genes rather than what I took - but then, figure no harm to err on side of such superstition.

                  Kopiying,

I remember something. Don't know if its too late, since you are due nxt mth. Used to rub olive oil on tummy, apparently reduce stretchmarks.

But I only started last trimester, by then there were already some at the sides of my tummy, but I feel that it could have been worst if I had not done anything abt it. Tip given to me by massuse.

You'll be fine. Think happy, do happy :celebrate: :celebrate:

Hey, I drank that too, autumnbronze. I still drink it nowsadays for the strengthening of uterine walls.

Kopiying, just some additional things that I'd done that you may want to consider:
                    - Drink lots of fluids and also cranberry or juice-anti oxidants plus ppl commented that my babies ang geh ang geh 😉 );
                    - Climb up some flights of stairs (I did climb up 8 floors to my apt - my active labour was 4 hours for DD1, 2 for DD2 and 1/2 hour for DD3).
                    - I rub this concoction of orange (i.e., the fruit) oil and sesame oil (yes the one for cooking) that my pre-natal massage lady got for me.

Most importantly BE HAPPY! :celebrate: coz your moods affect the disposition of your child.

Post-natal, I also got some mummy massage and baby massage...noticed that my DD2 and DD3 are much happier babies even though the pregnancy was stressful for my youngest coz DH was away on training!

                      Hi kopiying,

I second Andaiz's suggestions - the orange and sesame oil concoction sounds yummy ...

Okie, for sharing purposes, remember somemore if you are interested ...

1.Took garlic pills and loads of yogurt (fruity kind) to 'try to' prevent having the Group B Strep bacteria. In the end, testing came out negative for it, no need to take antibiotics

                      2. You may want to take a look at these website:
http://www.homebirth.org.uk/ofp.htm - Its about Optimum Foetal Positioning ie getting your baby to be in the best position by just sittting in certain positions while say watching tv, for example, rite b4 birth so that you'll have an easy delivery 😄

Sorry, stuff coming back in bits and spurts ...

I had gone all out and did extensive research to ensure mine to be a positive experience ... Nothing to do as had to bed rest alot ... so surf the net lah 😄

Anyway, this is your 2nd baby rite, so I think you will know what is best for you at the end of the day....
