Any recommendations for eye specialist? Ds has some troubles with his eyes, he's constantly wetting his hands with saliva and rubbing his eyes. The docs checked his eyes said no clear problems and just prescribed eyemo. Not helping much. Thank you.
Erm, are you more worried about the saliva part or the rubbing eyes part? If he needs eye drops because he has dry eyes, then just buy the Alcon Tears Naturale (preservative-free) from pharmacies instead of Eye Mo.
If his eyes are constantly itchy hence the need to rub, perhaps he requires some allergy eye drops like Patanol. You can see any GP, PD or eye doctor for this. There are many specialists being mentioned in earlier pages of this forum.
If you are worried about the \"habit\" of using his saliva to rub his eyes, then you probably need to monitor him closely and remind him to stop that action. Saliva has lots of bacteria and if you put that in the eyes, the eyelids could develop chalazions (styes) which will require antibiotic eye drops. Clean his eyes constantly since he has this habit. -

Most helpful, thx u. I’ll try Alcon Tears Naturale as suggested first. -
If he doesn’t like to use eye drops, you can also use a damp towel to put over his eyes. Take note if his rubbing is triggered by dust, light/reflection or hair / eyelashes.

YES! That reminds me that there was a period of time I like to use incense at home, and realized my kids started developing itchy eyes. We had actually visited the GP because of that and it was him that prompted us to think about any recent changes to our environment. -
hi
my elder dd degree is now 350 in both eyes and she started wearing glasses last year only. It has increased by 150 in a year. I am considering whether to start her on atropine now though doc at snec said to wait for another half year to assess as she is still young. My gal is K2 this year.
Wonder if I should insist, may I know for parents whom start your child on atropine,
1) at what age did your child start?
2) any discomfort i read abt the sensitivity to sun
3) does it really control myopia progression? -
Hi
My 9 year old son is on orthok lens and I just switched his optician from Point Optic to Stan Isaac. Stan isaac insisted that I have to drip eyedrop to his eyes before put on and after removal of the lens.
I don’t feel comfortable as I feel using eyedrop for long term may not be good for his eyes. I talked to Dr. Stan Isaac, he said in this case I can skip eyedrop after removal of the lens but eyedrop before put on the lens is a must and explained the reason… something like it will lubricate the lens and allow movement at night.
I am just more concern on the daily usage of eyedrop for long term.
Any sharing from orthok lens users?
Thanks! -
Hi
May I know why did you switch from Pt Optic to St Issac?
My DD is told by SHS to have her eyes checked so considering Ortho K as she doesn't want to wear any specs and I'm not comfortable with using invasive medication on her eyes.
Thanks in advance for sharing :salute: -
stop letting the kids play with iPads all day long, invest some time in doing outdoor activities running or soccer that will let the eyes rest and focus long distance…and load up on vitamin A carrots milk vitamin D for good absorption as well as fish oil! to improve good eyesight. billberry pills are a good investment as well

Just joined this forum. My husband asked me to send my kids (6 yr old girl and 4 year old boy) to see a eye specialist to get their eyes examined. Was recommended to see this Specialist at this new clinic at Suntec City. Thankfully, the Dr was very patient with my kids, and took his time to explain to me all I had to know about the condition of my children’s eyesight (unfortunately they inherited their father’s poor eyesight). The great thing is that they are part of a Optical centre and I had my kids glasses made there and the kids are occupied as there is a nice kids area for them to play. I am thankful that my husband forced me to send my kids to the Dr as the problem in my daughters eyes were found out before she turns 7 next year (apparently it is not easy to correct eyesight problems after 7). I do strongly suggest parents to bring their young ones to see a eye specialist young as I thought my kids did not have any problems with their eyesight.

Hi,
My 5 yr old boy has recently started to blink all the time. When asked, he says there is no discomfort but he just can’t help it. Not sure if it is a issue to raise concern or it is a newly developed bad habit?
Any parents experienced that too?
