Reached there at 9am this morning in order to video take dd in action of psl. About 10 +, the walkers arrived. The flag was carried into the school by this boon lay mp, then pass to the president if student counsellor. Lion dane and dragon dance to welcome them, plus the warm cheering from the students. Flag raising and the singing of sch song. Procced to the hall for speech follow by tone poem by the choir, string ensemble, chinese orchestra, dance, eldds & cldds. A school tour by the SCs. Saw many ex-rvians in this event. Generally the campus still not fully equipped, eg the students lounge, theatre, gym, archive room. Its divided into different courtyards, ie innovation, design, science, scholars, performing arts & one more that i cant remember. Tennis courts are on the rooftop of the hall, synthetic grass on the field, rooftop garden, 13 stalls canteen... What it is lacking now is the students touch to make the campus more warming.

My personal preferene is the arrival of flag & tone poem best. As for the
campus, love the library and scholar courtyard. πŸ˜„

This is daisyt reporting 3 hrs after the ending of this event. Saw CNA cameraman there, so maybe would be in the news tonight.

AFTER moving seven times since it first opened in 1956, River Valley High School has finally found a permanent home: a 7.6ha campus in Boon Lay Avenue.

The brand-new campus of the Integrated Programme school, which has about 2,500 students this year, cost $79 million and had its ground-breaking ceremony in January 2008.

Integrated Programme students bypass the O levels for the A-level or International Baccalaureate examinations.

More than 3,000 students, guests, staff and alumni ushered in the new year at the new campus yesterday with Best Foot Forward, a 17km running and walking relay from the school's former holding campus in Malan Road off Alexandra Road to its new campus.

A holding campus is one in which schools are located temporarily while waiting to move to a permanent location.

Madam Ho Geok Choo, an MP for West Coast GRC who was the event's guest of honour, said the move to the new campus will enable the school to implement its Integrated Programme in full.

                    Thankyou Daisyt,

I think the photos will be helpful for many people. I also read the chinese news in lianhe Zaobao.

I hope the school will upload photos of the interior facilities in the new website. This will help many students and parents to decide on their choice of school in the future. But probably they will be able to see with their eyes in the coming open house.

The balcony design is very unique with the "fork-shape" feature. So far, only HCI (junior college) buildings have such features along the balcony. The round shape "doorway" also surprised me alot. It is very traditional too but integrated in such a modern building attracts surprises too.

I think the school is still quite bare and if more colorful flora can be planted all around the school will be nice.

Hi WeiHan, yes, thats why I have mentioned, some student's touch to make the place a warm environment. Once added in the artwork, banners, the school is going to be not so bare or concrete feeling. You can see during the open house, the moving in is quite a rush one. I have done up a video clip, would post in youtube and the link soon. πŸ˜„
