That is something new to me. My son being discharge because he is attending EPIC program. KKH said I can't have both.
KKH rehab is for all kids until up to 12 or 18? As long as they don't discharge you, you can attend.braverymom:
Is KKH rehab that you mentioned for children below 7 or above 7? I am looking for OT that available on weekend, if possible. All OT are on weekday and cost $150-160 per hour..
KKH OT is just $40++. But its also conducted during weekday.

This is the Rehab therapy. Not the CDU therapy. These 2 dept work independently. How old is your kid right now?

You can call rehab and ask.. i just email CDU and get my doctor too approve rehab to see my son. -

I also think this is a very good approach. The mainstream social environment is really very different from special schools. We'd be putting too much stress on ourselves and our children if we have to fight fire at both ends. But if can survive, I think mainstream is the faster way to get rid of autistic tendencies. 吃得苦中 苦,方為人上人.
For me, I will probably take the same approach like Nugget. If my boy does very badly academically in mainstream n cannot conform to the desired behavior required in that environment i.e not learning at all. I will transfer him to Pathlight where he can probably learn better under the guidance of the trained teachers and be happier. -
Nugget,
Thanks for the info, I will call KKH to see if they can arrange. My son who is in EPIC is 5 yrs old now. There are total of 4 teachers suggested him to go OT, but due to time and cost, I always hold back. -
Should mild autism join Early Intervention? How accurate is psychology tests and other tests based on the behavior noticed from CC and parents? If join early intervention half way, can stop going? I find the cost very expensive. On top still have to go CC. :gloomy:

Is there another children hospital can diagnose on austism? We might want to see a second opinion other than the doctor from KKH.

My friend’s child is an asperger. She is a very very brilliant n pretty little girl attending p1 mainstream. You can hardly tell that she has asd. Within 4 months, she got bullied by three different group of classmates. Two groups made fun of her due to her quirks n one boy hit her. During one of the school outing, her sensory was kind of overloaded with activities n thus slower to respond to teacher’s instructions. She got scolded by this teacher in charge (this teacher didnt know of her condition)several times in front of all the children n parents. Her form teacher n aed didn’t help much to prevent or stop such bullies. I was upset when I hear all these but good thing is that she has the ability to relate incident to her mum n also added to the fact that my friend is a sahm n has more time to spend on her child n to teach her how to fend for herself.
Mainstream n PL definitely has it’s pros n cons. 1 teacher to 30 students in mainstream vs 2 teachers to 20 students in path light? I guess it still makes a very big diff in helping a young child. -
Starting we go see, the doc said child has flat foot. As it is so expensive to make insole, we just forgo doing the insole. Few months later, go see the same doc as CC's teacher complaining kid cannot keep still in school. Same doc said the feet look OK, then tell us teacher suspects kid got autism. Send us with our kid to do tests, now diagnose mild autism.
:yikes: So now not sure what happen? From feet till autism. Thinking of a second opinion. Should we see another doc? -

But this is in P1. Dont you think the issue is with the 2 teachers, irregardless of condition? My friend's child is an asperger. Perhaps you can try calling Child Guidance Clinic at Health Promotion Board. It is part of IMH.
If really autistic, then should go for early intervention. Otherwise the problems may get harder to correct.
Good luck!
