Not so keen in NUS High ?

Very keen but so difficult to get in šŸ˜“ šŸ™
Can some parents / students share the school's life for both the juniors and the seniors? Are the kids enjoying school?
The graduates' matriculation is very impressive.

every yr the no. of applicants will be different so no point comparing.

and donch bother to look at the chance (%) coz it is not 4-D or some balloting process. If you are really made for it and have the right aptitude, then no problem.

So far, this is what I had observed (which may not be applicable to all students). When school starts, there will be many projects, both individual & group, which need to be done & submitted within a very short period.

The assessment of the students' work ranges from the ability to submit homework & project on time (usually if you have done it & submit on time, it should be no problem), filing of daily assessments (there will be file checks), quizes, tests, practicals (practicals are almost everyday as all students take 3 Sciences) & exams.

Both Math & Science (3 Sciences) subjects are taught in great depth and very advance. By year 2, most should be able to take \"O\" Level Math & Science without much problem. The mentors are most helpful & if required, the students can approach them for extra or make up lessons if they miss their lesson, for example on MC or competitions, etc.

There are many competitions during the whole year which the students can participate. During the recent Speech Day, I was amazed by the no of awards that the school had achieved (so many until Dr Hang, the Principal, had to mention the awards so briefly during his speech, some of them not even mentioned at all, just flashed through the powerpoint slides).

Despite the hectic schedule during school term, when it's time for school holidays, the students hardly need to go back to school. This is the time that they can really enjoy their break or plan for something special such as reading up for the next semester.

My girl is in Year 1, so far she enjoyed the school very much. But 1 thing worried me was that she seems to be quite free and not much homework to do everyday. Although there are still some projects but compare with her friends at RGS or RV , my girl is indeed very "FREE" especially during the weekend.

Do any Year 1 parents felt the same ? Or different classes has different style ?

                      Dear Shurley197323

When the tests, quiz, practicals, projects and exam results come out, you should know if your girl is too "FREE". NUSH is very self-motivated, self-explored and self-studied school, may not like the other IP schools. If you expect low in CAP, (recently graduated CAP 3.2 can APPLY Universities already, but it does not guarantee a place for you) NUSH may be a relaxing place for your girl to hide.

Just a penny for my thoughts

Yes, I will wait for her SA1 results. and see....
I am looking for some extra assessments for her to do now. Currently I only bought HCL assessments books. Do you know is there any online assessments or testpapers website available for them to do ?
