On another thread, we discussed the use of the word 'You' in sentences, and that it should be avoided. (see this link: http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=55123&p=995795#p995795)

This is a thread for further discussion in this topic.

Anyway, as I was typing the word 'we' in the last thread, I had a feeling that it becomes 'nobody's responsibility. (Vaguely reminded of a quote about 'somebody', 'someone', 'anybody'...) Simkhoo mentioned the use the word 'we' inappropriate as homework isn't hers but the kids', and the word 'responsibility' came to mind.

There are slightly different versions floating around. Here's one: There was an important job to be done and Everybody was asked to do it. Everybody was sure Somebody would do it. Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it. Somebody got angry about that, because it was Everybodyโ€™s job. Everybody thought Anybody could do it but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldnโ€™t do it. It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

By the way, my ID is sLmkhoo, not sim or slim - my fault for picking an ID that is so hard to read! They just happen to be my initials.

Ooops, ya hor, sorri! I thought it was a joint surname or something - a sim and a khoo! Ok, slimkhoo, right?

And yes! Thanks for the quote!

No, not SLIM (I'm not, in any case!). My initials are S L M and maiden name Khoo.

:rotflmao: Reminds me of the time when I had to go to the Admin at my University to get my name corrected. They spelt my last name as \"Tho\" instead of \"Toh\". So the lady went, \"hmmm... ok... we'll correct your last name\" and showed me the registration form on which she has written \"Hot\" right in front of me. :faint:

                    \"Khoo\" is also a problem overseas - I've had \"Koo\" and \"Coo\"!

 It's an old ang moh auntie. And I was as skinny as a stick insect during those days. But she's nice and apologised and explained that she has been doing too many crossword puzzles.
