Road safety and correct driver behavior

We did not make a police report then as we were advised that as there was no injury (on our part) we should file a claim through GIA. We thought this should be very clear cut case as our vehicle was STATIONARY. But turned out that this friendly insurance co can still refuse to honor the claim....sigh..... :gloomy:
Was a police report made on the accident? Based on the details of the accident in the report, most auto insurers will not be able to dispute the claims. If they do, go public, write to the papers, and make sure the insurer pay their dues.
Question:
I have been advised by the police that as long as there is no injury, we do not need to make a police report. But we could still proceed to make one for record purposes only.
Would having a police report make an insurance claim indisputable (assuming no fault of ours) since our copy of the police report is a record of our version of the accident? The other party could also go make a police report distorting the facts, no?
I guess the only fool-proof way to make a :frustrated:-free claim in accidents where we are entirely not at fault is if we have an in-car camera installed or if the other party is someone like the Beemer owner in Chief's case.ChiefKiasu:
Sounds like that to me too.I suspect in this case the auto insurer is trying to claim against the 1st party who created the chain accident.

Hi, cmm.
Call M.A.R.S (Mobile Accident Response Service) at 6333-2222.
Many vehicle insurers are using MARS as their claim agent, report it within 24hrs, they will send their staff to meet you, take your statement, photograph the vehicle’s damages. They will liaison with the other party and their insurance company to expedite your claim. -

And that is why some people choose to involve the bane of insurance companies... the lawyers. C'mon, sometimes the insurance companies are practically asking for it.I guess the only fool-proof way to make a :frustrated:-free claim in accidents where we are entirely not at fault is if we have an in-car camera installed or if the other party is someone like the Beemer owner in Chief's case.

Interesting topic. I thought these will only be discussed in MCF…

In 2001, we bought a new nissan sunny, and DW was driving it. It came with reverse sensor. One week on, DW reversed, heard the sensor's beep beeping at progressively shorter interval, until finally 'bong' onto a mobile metal trash bin... That was our first new car, one week old...
That explains it.
Some years ago, MIL drove the family's car to the mkt n kena dent by dunno-who. FIL did not talk to her for a few months hor. The ice was finally broken when FIL fell sick n needed MIL to cook porridge for him n take care of him.
Man ah :spank:
talk about heart pain. -
a lot of workshops conspired with lawyers and doctors to make hugely inflated claims for minor accidents. There were some reports of such acts and there were a few persons jailed already. I’m not sure they can clamp down on them all though, as i think it is very rampant.

This is a very common practice for sure... It translates into the inflated premiums we pay for motor insurance  -

All these insurance nonsense about excess and claiming against my own policy made me think what's the point of taking up comprehensive insurance? I make do with 3rd party, fire and theft and save a bunch on insurance premiums.
Ya boy! DH is considering to stop the renewal of his insurance - since if there is a claim, you end up paying higher premiums - so what is the point, really? Worse, if the other party does not have insurance, and you can't claim against his insurance, he refuses to pay and the amount is too small to file him a legal letter, then what? -

What to do when insurance companies are too cheapskate to employ people who actually know how to assess claims?atrecord:

Not to mention that the car's authorised agent is not even on the list of approved workshops. :razz:pirate:
