I would prefer fresh maid than transfer maid. To me, 90% of transfer maid are problematic maid, worst if you get those been transferred few times. When I hire my maid last time, the agency always try to give me transfer maid and all the reasons are unreasonable employers or employers decided to stop having maid, I don't hear any reason because the maid can't work well, I recon they won't tell you the truth.

Another reason I prefer fresh maid is they are more willing to learn, you can train them according to your preference, those experienced ones are very stubborn to change.
For salary, I don't suggest salary increment to mark to market, they always compare and no matter how much you increase, if they want to leave they'll still leave. For my maid, she intend to extend her 2 year contract, I told her no salary increment but I'll give her another 1 mth of bonus whenever she renew her contract. She's happy with that. No doubt they are calculative, but they're smart too, my maid totally understand high pay might not equal to better work. And I'm open if she would prefer to work for others who offer her higher pay.
Yes, fresh maid are willing to learn. However, it is a sweeping to statement to say those experienced ones are stubborn. It really depends what kind of household did they work for? Those who work at a easier place will most likely be stubborn but those with a more hectic schedule would in fact do the job better.

        With fresh maids, the advantage:

        -willing to learn
-teach her YOUR style of doing things

        The con:
-everything you teach, they will tell you, 'I know, I know'.
-treat her well, she will also not know bcos she has never worked for another family before...climb on your head and sit there.

Transfer maid or those ex-sin/Malaysia tends to be yaya papaya....resistant to change/learn bcos she thinks every family is the same.

Employers entrust an important member to maid to look after...either bb or elderly. Yet, these maids give problems. :moneyflies:

Normally we suggest to let the maid to get used to your routine/habits (for about 6-8 months), then you can treat her better progressively, they will usually appreciate after that.

Ultimately, every household is different. It will be dependent on how the agency discipline them.

If there is an option available then perhaps can request for a transfer maid whom had finished her contract though it might be quite a wait.

I made a terrible mistake of hiring a transfer maid whom claimed that her ex-employer is very picky on her, scolding her repeatedly for the chores she complete and yet the children messed up again. She called it quit merely after a few hours, leaving us to incur a sum of money for her few hrs of services in our household! Of course as usual, the agency feel that they are not in any way responsible for recommending such quality of helper to us.

With the old system, maids take about 8 months to clear their debts…that means they are obedient during that period…once their debts are cleared, the true colours show. I remember how my indon maids were willing to learn when they are new…but when they reach 7.5 months, stubborn nature and nonsense start to act up.

Brother’s Myanmar maid is into her 5th month working…starting to show nonsense…like showing black face or pretending not to see my brother carrying grocery bags after a trip to supermarket.

Discipline should be inculcated early on. Trust can be nurtured at a later part

I prefer fresh maid, train from scratch. Of course it will be tougher then. But whether good or bad it still depend on your luck!

                      Hi

Does anyone have a transfer Indo maid to recommend ? Reason for transfer should not be negative eg cannot cope with too much household chores, caught stealing valuable etc.

I am going to let go of my current maid in March 2016 so looking around now. Basic tasks include bringing back and forth my 4 year old to childcare centre daily. Household chores like washing and cooking.

Kindly contact me if there is suitable transfer Indo maid.
                      My no is 90621978. Thanks.

                      🙏

fresh one easier to teach compared to transfer one. also depends on luck whether she is willing to learn.
