You canโ€™t use the cup provided for all measurements bec the recipe calls for 1/3 cup flour etc and that cup can only measure full cups of dry ingredients, not 1/3, 3/4 etc. For those you have to use your own nesting cup measures.

I realised that I've been spending at least $5 a day buying bread. Maybe it's time for me to join this thread and start making my own bread! ๐Ÿ˜‰ If anyone who can share with me some good bread making sites for an amateur baker housewife like me, I will be most grateful! :rahrah: Thanks in advance!

Hi canvas, do you own a breadmaker or are you planning to knead by hand? Just google, there are lots of bread blogs with good instructions. Alternatively, there are a number of baking books at Popular and Kino.

I am still thinking if I should get a bread maker especially because I own air fryer/ steamer/ waffle maker/ pancake maker etc etc...and I hardly use them! But I use my oven very frequently though. I am actually hoping to get some non-knead bread recipes to try out. I know most people use their bm to knead before baking them in oven. What's your opinion about this? Is it really better to use a bm? Appreciate feedbacks! :rahrah:

BMs make breadmaking very convenient. You just put in all the ingredients, press start, and you'll have a loaf of bread in about 3 hours. As you use your oven a lot, you'll prob prefer to just get something to help you with the kneading. Which the BM can do, or if you have a mixer with a dough hook, that'll do as well. Actually a mixer is more useful bec you can use it to make cakes, make meringues... ๐Ÿ™‚ I haven't tried no-knead breads before but I googled and found this recipe which seems to make really nice-looking no knead bread. http://www.simplysogood.com/2013/03/artisan-no-knead-bread.html

Thanks so much! ๐Ÿ˜„ I have a regular Kenwood mixer and it does come with a strange looking metal hook (never knew what it was for!). Lol. Time to start searching for good deals for BM too. Will post pictures here when I start making bread. Have just researched on the tangzhong method and it feels fun already. :xedfingers:

Play with your mixer's dough hook first. No need for a BM. ๐Ÿ™‚ Post pictures of your first breads. ๐Ÿ™‚

I had that same question too. You can get milk powder from phoon huat or just any from the supermarkets. The recipes use only a tablespoon or so, so it really doesnโ€™t matter the brand.
