Thank you! :xedfingers: :xedfingers:
From experience , St nicks does not look for the super low single digit scorers. Typically , those scoring AL4-5 does not even get an interview . And neither her do the girls necessarily need to be head prefect or head or CCA either .
I would suggest that you apply for both IP & O level track to increase your chances .
-
:thankyou:

Yes 3 via MOE portal. Because SOTA portal is separately managed by themselves.
-

Thank you so much for clarifying; I now have a better understanding. Achieving an exact score in the middle will be very challenging....
This “strategy” of trying to get into a “better” NA/G2 school versus a “lousy” neighborhood school for Express/G3 is not new. It has been around for decades.
While i understand such a strategy, i wish to give a fuller picture if u are intending to target “exactly” the option band (or even go easier on psle cramming and aim for G2).
What do u mean by “G2 and G3 are integrated”? Under fsbb, yes they all sit in the same form class. However, subject lessons will be split (move to different classrooms) based on G2 or G3 syllabus.
Yes, while G2 and G3 use the same textbooks, G2 is tested on slightly less content (minus 1-2 chapters per topic) and the exam papers are slightly easier (some tutors say got more lenient marking scheme).
Other things to consider: if in PG3, student default starts all subjects at G3 level. If cannot cope (fail persistently), school will recommend remedial lessons first, try again, last resort advise to drop to G2. However, if in PG2, student will start at G2, unless AL5 or better in that subject for psle.
Note the criteria for “upgrading” a subject from G2 to G3 os very tough. Sample from one school (this may vary from school to school, but afaik it is NOT easy):
I hope this will help u make a more informed choice. Also it is not certain what happens if the child’s SEC cert has a mix of G2 and G3 subjects. Schools have not revealed what criteria must be met for them to continue a 5th year to take the G3 level for the 4th year G2 subjects. Some ppl are guessing this is not encouraged, but rather to use the 4th year G2 (& some G3) credits to enter poly foundation program.
(Edited to use 2024 photos, to reflect more accurate terminology used for the official FSBB pioneer batch of students.)
-
Hi, my girl didn’t perform well in p5 WA and fail math, but EOY managed to get AL9 but whole year overall only AL11, wondering whether still got chance to apply NYGH? She got quite a few awards in the applied domain and is really enthusiasm in the field.
-
Hi, May Iknow for NYGH arts domain DSA, do they require p6 NWA results? as is not reflected in report book.

The panel of interviewers will look at the trend of her overall performance, from P4 to P6.
If fail Maths is an one time off case, the blemish is not so glaring, as compared to say, another student who perpetually failed Maths, from P4 to P6. We look at \"trend\". That is, the pattern of consistency.
Whatever it is, can proceed to apply. Bear in mind that many other applicants will also be applying for Maths domain, in NYGH. As u may already know, Maths domain is one of the greatest, popular academic domain not just in NYGH school alone, but across many several popular Secondary schools in SG. -
Hi parents,
DS is super interested in Maths/Science. Looking at DSA into NUSH. He says he wants to give it a try.
Looked through the website, it mention something like submit portfolio, may i know what is this portfolio that NUSH is looking for?
Also DS is a prefect and Vice-captain for his track and field. Looking at DSA leadership as well. Can any parents enlighten us, is DSA through leadership tough? DS looking at VS. Any idea what VS is looking at for leadership?
Thanks all in advance. -

Isn’t NUSH open house tomorrow? Try asking the teachers and students in person there.

Of course Not !
Any instances of schools making offers of a different domain from the one applied? Eg apply under leadership but offered academic instead?
If you never apply for that domain in the first case, why would a Secondary school out of the blue, suddenly offer you something, when u never even apply in the first case ?
You are mistaken
However, below case CAN happen.
Example
Apply to RGS, one same Secondary school, but under 2 different domain.
1) apply for Academic (example English)
2) apply for Leadership, concurrently.
After attending all academic tests, after attending all the interview, in the end, RGS offered this P6 .... Leadership, not Academic (English).
Yes ! This can happen.
However, note that this happen because this pupil did & have applied for 2 different, separate domain. And turn out that, she is successful for one, but not the other. Clear ? -
Hi parents, can share experience on DSA art application for NJC (art elective), SJI (visual art) and VS (art elective)?
1) What credentials each school is looking at for P5/P6 results? My son’s school dont have WA1 for P6 but non-weighted test - will this count as well?
2) What to take note of application submission for each school? Any specific area we shall make sure we highlight in the submission?
3) For those shortlisted for interviews, what AL were in P5? What questions and art works required during interview for each school
Thanks
