We leave the shoes and socks outside our main door. So I don’t bother

        sleepy:
I'm still yelling about socks on the floor once a week. Honestly this should be zero occurrence!

I have zero tolerance for mess. I have set up a proper designated place for most items eg, dirty socks should be in a designated pail at my balcony area. That way I will be able to toss them in when I am doing my laundry. If they are not there, then it will not be washed. DS learnt it the hard way cos he went to school without his school socks as they were lying somewhere else and he has no clean socks to wear. I will not pick up after him. Nowadays all's well. Thank God.

My balcony sits at the end of my kitchen. There I have my beloved washing machine, dryer all neatly stacked on top of each other plus my laundry baskets. I have some pails for designated items.

Not sure where to post this …

May I know how long did you allow your children to play games with their phones or game station?

Actually we have a rule to follow I.e if that child do not perform up to our expectations for that particular exam they will not be allowed to play any games. Cannot have access to the phone for games for 1 to 2 months. However, I think it’s peer pressure for them to need to play a certain game with their classmates in order to maintain the good relationship ?! I think I can understand but does it make sense to break our rules for this ?

Hence I need to know how long do u let your children play games after school or only during weekends despite them not doing well or not up to your expectations ?

I see that Me-Time has become a place for complaints against our kids lolol

Yesterday after a long, emotionally and physically draining day in school, when DD1 came back at 6pm, I asked her if there were any hw. She said no and since MYE was over, I thought my question was perhaps perfunctory. I asked again after dinner (I think I must be so used to it). Still said no. Then while 3/4 into the 小三 show, she shouted "omg, I forgot I got this hw to do"…(her bedtime is usually by 10pm). So she ran to the room to try to do. Obviously being physically and mentally drained, she couldn’t do the HCL comprehension question on character analysis. Her default was to ask me. Of course, I didn’t know how to b/c this was a certain format taught to them to identify certain character traits and to label as such. So she made a big fuss that I was not helping and disgruntledly did it, with sobbings in between writing. At the back of my mind, I could feel myself screaming "f**k off…served you right for not being on top of things, yet still had the cheek to blame me for not knowing…" Knowing she had a bad day, I just left her to her own device b/c 本小姐的脾气也好不到哪里去。

I don't link games to school performance, only to sleep, vision and health. Fantastic results does not mean you can play all day. Bad results doesn't mean you can't play at all. After homework is done, half an hour a day max. If I have to remind too often that time is up, then only Friday, Saturday and Sunday because they make me have to keep track of their usage. Ds1 is more fuzzy logic since he has a phone now. Just generally eyeball it and if he senses that I am really getting cross, he will automatically out the phone outside to PROVE that he is not using it.

I do differentiate between games and using it for other things. If they are looking up constructive stuff - i.e. Instructions for music, art, etc - they can use my devices without restrictions.
