I m abit worry of kids getting too dependent on tuitions. I tried to understand the O Chem&A.Maths and I find that can actually study on own. Just need to revise more to pick up speed maybe. I don't see reasons for not able to understand..Maybe I haven't gone deeper into the subjects 🤷 but dd never accepted my gesture..she says she has her own ways to understand and we have different ways. I will try to pay more attention to dd on her new journey. Will try to keep up with her and get her additional help when needed. It is indeed trial & error parenting.
My DH’s niece and nephew had tuition for almost all subjects before A levels. I am not sure if they need tuition but SIL was a FTWM so she felt bad she can’t help them w their school work so she engaged tutors for them. I observed that my niece and nephew did very well in university on their own w/o tuition. So no need to think too much about fear of over reliance on tuition.

      This world is cruel. 笑贫不笑娼。
It it the outcome that matters. University admission is based on grades and no one cares if your grades are based on your own effort or obtained with the help of tuition

Since 笑贫不笑娼, then I don't mind to be a 娼 because no one will laugh at me. 😆

Haha, considering your age, it will be sad if it ends up that you 亦娼亦贫

Please don’t take the phrase literally and always consider the context under which the phrase is used. My point is that in the pursuit of academic excellence, receiving tuition is perfectly acceptable. A student who receives tuition throughout his student life but graduated from Law/Medicine faculty definitely has the last laugh over another student who prides himself never to have received tuition but fails to gain admission to university.

If I am a 娼, don't know whether any men still want me or not? :scratchhead:

Yes, I and DH both failed to gain admission to University but how could you conclude that we don't have the last laugh? Maybe we are not excel in our materials life but I and DH are satisfied with our persent life . :imcool:

This is a very subjective question. Then how do you conclude that a doctor who saved numerous lives, doesn’t have the last laugh?

Cold here in Paris. A cups champagne warms my heart. Heading for Germany. Will be snowing in Stuttgart & Nuremberg. Very long tiring trip. Hv to slow down abit more now. Bought too much chocolates, cheese, macaroons, francier & wine. Bought a varieties of potted herbs (rosemary, thyme & sage) but will bareroot before flying home. Hope it thrives in SG weather after I try chilling it down gradually. Added one more luggage then when we left Changi. Let’s see how to manage. Just died hard shopper.

In the middle of last night, I received news of a very dear friend’s demise. Hv to inform his son to fly home for his father’s funeral. Feeling sad, but life can be suddenly shortened. When we left SG, we were informed a very dedicated Christian friend who do outreach to those marginalized & even those Geylang workers had met with a freak accident whilst reaching out to those in Turkey. Too young to go, we feel the loss.

Yes. Life is transient. Will take things easy.

I fell on an escalator the other day & my ears got serrated with a small skin peeled out. DH was behind whilst others didn’t know how to react. Thankfully, my ear wasn’t sliced & intact. Almost blackout fr the shock. DH managed to get some alcohol, gauze & plaster. Had a warm cuppa & rebound to steady self.
