heard the redang marine park is closed due the coral bleaching
. was planning to go to redang for sep school holiday, hesitate. -
The best time to visit Redang is ard March after the corals have their 4 month break.
I have visited Redang twice during September. The water are murky beach is dirtier somehow. However, September is the whale shark migratory month. We bumped into one once. It was an experience. June is their peak period.
Berjaya Air flies from Seletar Airport right into Redang Island. They have been in operation since some 5 years back. Prior to that they only fly direct from Subang Airport.
During the Natas fair in Feb/march, Berjaya will offer the Fly and stay there promotion. They usually sell starting form $368 onwards for a 3D2N package for twin sharing (with brekfast) -

Only some parts I recall; others are still open. Anyway, nonid to be sad, it's good they are taking care of the corals to prevent further damage. -
Just come back from Redang 2 months ago… went during June holiday with my DH and 4yo DD
I think it depend on which resort you stay, most of the resort you still need to take a ferry to reach there, as the road in the island is not very well established.
Oct to Feb is their moonsoon period.
We went for a 4D3N, inclusive of all board meal, below is the daily activities:
- Wake up -> Breakfast
- Snorkel at marine park
- Come back - Shower
- Lunch
- Nap
- Snorkel at open sea
- Come back - play at beach near resort / continue to snorkel near resort
- Shower
- Dinner
- Relax near beach - play sand / walk on beach or to other resort / enjoy live music at resort
- Sleep
- Next morning - REPEAT
All we did were - SLEEP, EAT, SNORKEL (enjoy the sun and sea and nature) :imcool:
We manage to see baby shark, crown fish and eel… and many fishes...

Back from Redang, after 4D/3N at the Berjaya Resort. The trip was great, and our kids enjoyed it thoroughly.
Flew from Seletar airbase, onboard a fairly new ATR (propeller). Didn’t exactly count but it’s probably a 80 seater or so (it’s a 2-2 seating). Well fairly primitive checkin and waiting lounge, but it’s OK, no one rushing - it’s holiday !
Landed after about 1.5 hours of pentup excitement ! Airport at Redang is equally "simple", and friendly no-rush immigration/customs. Once cleared, we’re bundled up into a non-aircon bus for Berjaya Resort, about 10 mins away.
Berjaya Resort seems pretty new, and hardware is not bad at all. It’s all about relaxation. Big rooms, big toilets, balconies facing the sea (of course there are hill facing ones too). But software is a little lacking - but then again Berjaya is never known to be a hospitality player. Anyway, they tried. Going everywhere is buggy driven !
But the most fantastic part of it is the beach - white soft sand with no debris, and crystal clear water, even clearer than the hotel pool ! Kids enjoyed the beach thoroughly - sand castles, the waves, kayaking, feeding the fishes, catching carbs, rock pools and etc.
As our kids are to young for most of the seas-sports, we only manage to take the glass-bottom boat out to view turtles - and we did locate some ! -
Is Dec a good time to visit Redang?

But like all resorts, F&B is on the expensive side. A glass of milk is RM12
I went for an hour of jungle trekking with my son, who is very much into reptiles and insects. We saw some monitor lizards sun-bathing, a snake crawling across the walkpath, multiple insects of many kinds, monkeys, eagles, squirrels - so it was an unforgettable time for the little fella ! plus father-son bonding time, what else can you ask for.
No sandflies, and not much mozzies either. We finished the entire can of sunblock (and more), but not the insect repellant.
When we arrived, there were about 300pax in the hotel. But trust me, not crowded at all, and in fact fairly well spaced (this is the lull season though). By Monday, half the crowd was gone.
Overall a great trip :celebrate:
