My DD learned to ride w/o training wheels before turning 6. DH promised to teach her but never did it so eventually my dad taught her in just a few lessons. She used DS' smaller bike to learn as her feet could touch the ground, which made her feeling more secure.

I think DH is a bit jealous that he's not the one to teach her so I told him that he still had chance with DS. But no action so far. Guess eventually have to ask my dad again 😛 .

Of course it's best if they can learn it by themselves...that would be the most economical. But when all else failed, you know there's help available. 😉

i have two boys, aged 6 and 4.

i took off my kids' training wheels on 1st of may and taught them a bit...... you know, the basic things like dont go fast, dont stop n keep peddling, if you're falling to one side then turn your handlebar the same direction to maintain balance, keep body balanced etc......

then i remembered something from my old days...... and this is the BIG TIP - release a bit of the air pressure in the tyres, so that its about 3/4 pressured.

with the tyre a bit flat, its easier to balance! dont deflate the tyre, just a bit flat with the kid on it. the kid will find it easier to balance cos the surface area of the tyre in contact with the ground is bigger now......

then slowly increase the tyre pressure as your kids start to ride around on his own and get better, until he can ride with fully pressured tyres......

my older boy began cycling on the 3rd day 😄
