All About Preparing For PSLE
-
Hi Champion,
Thanks. We need to be tough now...cannot be jelly fish.
So caught up with the Oral until I forgot my daughter's Chinese writing test...fortunately P2 or else gone case. Was coaching her for 听写 last night and saw the dates for her Chinese test. Asked her what was the date yesterday and she told me 13th...her 看图写句 over liao (it was on 3rd Aug). Living in 2 entirely different 'worlds' with both of them...although it is August. :frustrated: -
Thanks, Champion.
Good luck, everyone!! Remember to add TLC too!

Peony:
Thanks for this tip, Augmum!
To add on to these, make sure yr kids dont eat out juz before and during the exam period,Augmum:
i agree to avoid crowded places and unnecessary activities like swimming. Swimming because, just in case they catch a cold or some inconsiderate people cough or sneeze into water etc.
During exam periods, i keep them at home most of the time. Of course jogging, walking are fine. Dont go out in the middle of hot day!!
as to avoid or prevent any unhygienic food which could cause stomach flu, diarrhorea or food poisoning, etc.
And AVOID deep fried food, junk food and processed food as it will affect the performance of the brain activity.
Showed this to both my helper and DD.
She loves fish tofu & processed cheese - some processed food have been \"disguised\" to appear healthy.
U re welcome Peony........
Yes, it's good to educate yr helper abt the negative facts of processed food, also includes deep fried food with trans fats and high sugary foods.
In this way, she can avoid preparing such foods esp during the period of exams.
Those highly processed food and additives demage the brain cells and its network.
Medical research studies have been done on rats, showing the connection between diet high in processed food, ( junk food)
and their brain functionality and performance.
In short, diet rich in processed foods results in lower IQ, memory issues, mood swings and depression, etc....
Effects are even more prominent in younger children.
Those who are keen to know more can google for it.....
But having that said, kids are kids, they like to eat processed foods,
so what we can do is try to avoid them especially during exam periods.......

Must inform the grandma too!
She gave my DD banana fritters - her favourite!
Yup, kids are kids. She knows no fried food for now. But once she's offered, all forgotten... :slapshead: -
Peony:
ya...since some children are being look after by grandparents during the day...Must inform the grandma too!
She gave my DD banana fritters - her favourite!
but....i have came across some grandparents are rather stubborn in their thinking/eating habits....
hard to change them....

Peony:

Steam and stir-fry. Avoid going out because it's simply too hot. Many people are down with the flu. Not that I'm paranoid, but I would adopt these measures even if there is no exam. -

Doing the papers is 1 thing, whether the teacher has time to go through all is another thing... dd has been complaining about her teacher has not gone through a lot of papers the class submitted!
As a student taking PSLE this year, i think that your parents can remind your brother the fact that what school he is going will affect his future. Also, he can play 24/7 after PSLE,so why not study hard and not worry about the score? -
Does anybody know the name of an extremely good Maths teacher who can spare 2 hours just to clear my dd’s doubts in Maths. My dd is a reasonably bright kid who gets around 95 and 97. However she has some doubts while doing past prelim papers. I myself finding it difficult to solve them. any suggestions. Her best subject is Maths so wants to help her out.

She could approach her school Maths teacher & the teacher might solve the problems during lesson time. Alternative, she could discuss the few challenging questions with classmates who are good in Maths. It is not necessary to get a tutor for one 2 hr session, just to solve a few questions.
