a friend did, she said, if anything happens to the phone and needs the warranty repair, just restore to factory settings and send in..

That's what my fren said too. You must not update your phone to the latest 4.2 software as the jail break version for this is not out yet. My fren offered to do for me so is checking for opinion here.
