My son didn’t do very well…we were caught off guard.

He has 203. Need time to get over it.
Seriously I don’t know what happened, but can’t ask him.

I am very sad that i got low marks.....:(

        Dear kiasuNewbie,

Life is a journey. As long as you are willing to pick up the pieces, learn from your mistake and move on, tomorrow will always be a sunny day.

Give it your best shot in your next endeavor.

I'm not sure if it is so easy to learn from mistake and pick up. Nobody can accurately predict tomorrow's weather, but not a good result means not a good result. You can't retake PLSE and you can't simply ask to transfer to a top school later. You live with your 'mistake' the whole life. :gloomy:

My son Nan Hua Primary school. score 264 +1

their principle also not highlight the highest score in the school. I think it is good.

For secondary school, we want to apply RI, but still a bit scare.

Yeah how come suddenly so quiet here.

All my students brought me a good news. I was quite shocked coz the one who scored highest at first told me that her result was very very bad. LoL

And anyway one of them also told me that the highest score for this year is 285 (I dunno where did she hear this from)

                :congrats: everyone

Wow. This is so impressive! :congrats:

When the Principal showed that, I went \"Yes\" inside. Quick mental calculation showed that my dd had a good chance, so I was hopeful and praying hard (altho a bit too late, huh). She came out with 266 + 2. 🕺[/quote]wow, congrats!

                      @AWSP,

For my DC1, score was 270+ whereas for DC2 the score was 260+. So for DC2, the score was actually near cut off for the school he wanted to go.

Now, does knowing top score from each school and list of top scorers help me for deciding which school to apply for? The answer is No. We just put the top 3 choices (or was it 5 - I can't recall) based on the preference and wait for the result.

In any case based on the information that is being posted, I don't think one gets enough information to judge how the overall cohort results have turned out to be for that year.

And no - I am not suggesting to any parents not to go for IP school etc. If the child does well, by all means get into IP school but please don't make it as the goal. The goal still needs to be the learning, enjoying the learning process and most importantly character and values.

It is really sickening to see how stressful it has become for our 12 year olds:

                      LovingDadSG:

I beg to differ with you. The secondary school booklet published by MOE already provides cutoff of past PSLE scores. If MOE is not releasing comprehensive data re: PSLE top score, second guessing based on unverified information here doesn't help. In any case when you apply for school, you can put multiple choices - so whatever it is, your children gets the best available choice based on his/her results and availability.

last year's cohort performance is different from this year. For those whose points hover around the cut off, the information is important so as not waste the choices. Of course if your child's score is 270+ as you have indicated, you wouldnt have bothered
                      LovingDadSG:
It is one thing for parents to motivate their children to do best but it is completely unnecessary obsession with getting into top schools that is the real root of the problem.

Having the information to decide wisely does not mean that you are obssessed with getting into top schools. You have indicated that your kids are in the top schools.
I have 2 kids as well and I am also glad that they are in IP schools. However I cannot persuade myself to hold moral highground and tell others not to be \"obsessed\" with the better schools when we know that the schools are differentiated and thats the reality. On what grounds can we persuade others that all schools are the same, when we put our children into the IP schools?
