Overcrowded MRT at peak hours
-
I am not here to discuss politics but this overcrowding MRT at peak hours is quite a serious problem. I am very worried when my child has to change at JE as JE is famous for overcrowding. Lucky they install the safety door, at least my worries is cut down. Being still kids, sometimes, they don't know how to squeeze in. There are times, she need to wait 2 MRT before can get in. Sometimes, when she takes MRT to school, she is very puzzled why everyone is like running and rushing to the escalator. I find this kind of act rushing, can be quite dangerous to the elderly and kids. I am not blaming them and I understand, people have to move fast or else the overcrowding at the platform can be dangerous too.
It seems that no matter town area or non town area, peak hours are always crowded. I am wondering how are they going to solve this problem? -
then u got to demonstrate to her/him how to rush and squeeze into the train lor...
...just joking...

do what the japs do? :?
but on a serious note. I do think the planners under-estimated when doing capacity planning. -

Tankee, were you referring to them queueing up to enter the mrt? I saw that in Taipei.. -
RRMummy:

They have 'helpers' stationed on platforms to push in the commuters.
The commuters are packed like sardines in the coaches,
and many cases of groping goes on such that
they now have 'women' only coaches.
But the Japanese generally are conscious of public hygiene
so it is not so bad;
imagine this situation in S'pore? :!: -

exactly. -
When I was pregnant with DD, I worked till the last week before delivery. I took the train to work and DH picked me from work and drove me home.
Every morning was peak hour and jam packed. Not once did anyone offer me a seat.
Once I even offer my seat to a lady who was more advanced in her pregnancy than me (I was 6 months preggers, she looked ready to pop).
The funniest/strangest thing Iβve witnessed is a pregnant lady standing infront of the pax seated, exclaiming very loudly:βIβm pregnant and very tired, who wants to give me a seat?!β Only one person stood up. -
yah my colleagues were just mentioning that theyβve been seeing people faint in the mrt. think too stuffy and crowded.
worst part is, they just raised fares on 3 july. so far no one i know is paying less according to this so-called distance fare charging.
the last time, a raise in fares of a few cents will be announced and explained way before hand. this time? my fares increase 24 cents a day and there is no proper communication of the fare hike! -
Thanks for the video link, tankee.
Boy! :!:
They're still polite enough to say,
\"We're gonna push ok?\" -
