7 New IP schools
-
Brenda10:
Only two IP (Cedar and VS) school will benefit the students (P5 now) who are taking PSLE on 2011 based on their Secondary 1 intake on Year 2012. That's mean that our choices (either boy or girl) only increase by 1 on next year Secondary School selection. Wow, still very tough.
Cedar & Victoria will have 50 students from this year P6 students.. so cut off for this school will be high this year S1 posting.
Can someone highlight will this bring L1R5 lower\" -

Innovate answered my query a long time ago. So I didn't bother paying attention to the subsequent answers. No mix up on my part.jtoh:
wah...the marriage of 1 boy school with two girls schools. At JC level, Cat high boys can have afford to have two girl friends.

Girl A : he is mine
Girl B : no ! he is mine !

L1R5 is DIRECTLY irrelevant to IP students since L1R5 is applicable to O level only...
however,... more students will likely try to go to Victoria School and Cedar as a whole ... to have 2nd shot at IP at sec 3 in Victoria/Cedar... and with Victoria JC as affiliated JC and Victoria Sch principal already said on TV students can switch IP back to O or O to IP if deemed appropriate later on.....
Victoria sch boys ALWAYS have 2 points off the L1R5 advantage going to VJC using the standard O level Route, thats why it is called Victoria JC when started in early 80s and is the affiliated offspring of Victoria school ... (which now maybe VJC would also extend 2 bonus points to Cedar girls of O level route too since now is officially sister school, no 1 is sure except Victoria's internal pple)
hence i think the COP of VS and Cedar will slowly increase from current middle 24+ to around 248 - 255 range in near future......, then these future batches of L1R5 will improve lor... nothing rocket science lah, good 1 in good 1 out... garbage in garbage out...in most cases.... -

Actually I don't think RI and HCI call themselves 'boys schools' during the JC years. In fact, if you go to the RI website, both boys AND girls are clearly shown in the photographs. http://www.ri.edu.sg/#
You could be right. So they are now all co-ed schools.
yes, i am aware that all 3 schools take in girls from Year 5.kiaaik:
I'm trying to understand what you mean by \"as far as I know, RI and HCI are still known as boys schools\". Do you mean that you are not aware that both schools are co-ed in Years 5 & 6? Or do you mean that you are aware that both are co-ed but you associate the names RI & HCI with boys schools?
And why would you think the ACSI is co-ed? The school is all-boys from Year 1-4 and only co-ed in Year 5-6.
ri and hci still state that they are boys' schools
there was a ST article when acsi started taking in girls and it was mentioned that acsi is now co-ed
this is the difference which i am wondering why -

Officially, there is no such thing as brother or sister schools, except those within the family - Catholic, Methodist, Anglican.
RGS has a different history from RI but have 2 bonus pts in the past when they go to RJC. -
Got this from Zaobao. Interesting reading if you read Chinese.
Like in this forum, the CHS-SNG-SCGS combination saga has been dominating the media news.
