Now they have a new class for those not ready yet. It will include activities like singing and teaching of writing and recognizing the numbers.
Hi All,
My boy is 3 year old. May i know is there any trial class?
Thanks
there is evaluation before joining, to make sure that the child can write numbers 0-9. last time we attended trial class at the Kidz Academy. There's one coming on this weekend, maybe you want to look. Or else, can just contact the branch you want to attend and inquire about trial class.
Any of your kids are attending this course? Is it worth attending?
TIA.
I hv a different opinion on this. Hopefully won't get :heresmyfish: by others who do not agree.
I question what is so difficult about singing, writing and recognising numbers that the kid need to be sent to a centre once / twice a week to learn this? If you spend a 10mins a day reading books about numbers to the kid, or playing number games with your kid, or pointing to the calendar, won't it be more beneficial and save travelling time and :moneyflies: as well?? -
Pen88n, that was my sentiments too because that was what they have briefly told me about which I feel it could be a waste of money if those are just what they'll be doing with the kids when they are already in a full day care ctr.
Just need to find out more from those whose kids are attending this course if they are teaching other things as well besides the 'play' activities and teaching them to write. I am not that loaded to spend a sum of money for my child to just play and sing!

Hi ppnqq, I feel that it's better to coach your kid at home rather than spend the money. It's better to save this sum of money for future as the fees is $250-$280/10 lessons (if I remembered correctly), depending on the location of the CMA branch.Pen88n, that was my sentiments too because that was what they have briefly told me about which I feel it could be a waste of money if those are just what they'll be doing with the kids when they are already in a full day care ctr.

If the branch is located at the HDB area, the fee is $250. If it's located at the shopping malls/ mrt stations, then the fee is $280. -

There are many uses for the :moneyflies: when the kids get older, esp. if they need enrichment and parents really might find it difficult to teach, not to mention having to learn to teach and finding the right materials to teach.

When kids are younger, actually a lot of things can be taught ourselves. With #1, I was the kancheong mum who wanna send kid to all classes and more than willing to spend time and $$ on his lessons. With #2, I do not have that much $$ or time or effort anymore. Comparing the 2, I think #2 is much more street-smart, has much more initiatives to learn, and surprisingly more advanced than #1 at that age. #1 is bright but has more the spoon-fed mentality, perhaps \"cultivated\" by the fact that classes plan all learning for him and fed him with all the facts. -
Hello Parents,
My son is 5 Years old; I am considering to enroll him CMA at Toa Payoh and Tampines. Please kindly share your experience with them. Thank you.

My kids are with CMA Toa Payoh. Daughter’s been with them for 2 yrs plus and my son started beginning of the year. The group of teachers there are nice though they have had some changes for the foundation class.
I agree with pen88, why spend the money on "how to write numbers". Kids go to CMA to learn abacus, mental sums, not how to write. Though I can see the "singing part" as perhaps using songs to remember formulas? Not sure if that’s what they’re doing. Personally I don’t think should send kids who are not ready for the classes. -

Hello Jce,
Thank you for sharing your experience.
Agreed, I thought it would be good fro my boy to start excersing his brain as it will also help cope better in Maths (Except problem solving).
I will ask the centre if they have trial class, so I would give a sudden shock to my boy.
Best regards,
