Hi laughingcat,tamarind:
Hi laughingcat,
杨红樱童话珍藏版 (set of 4 books) are mentioned by another parent Porcupine, she is happy with the books. I thought of getting them, but it is currently out of stock at dangdang.
杨红樱注音童书 is completely hanyu pinyin. Popular is selling copies of it, and I have seen another version of the same books without hanyu pinyin at Popular. The standard of these books may be too high for K1 to P1 if there is no hanyu pinyin, parents need to read with the kids. Personally I will not buy too many books with hanyu pinyin. You can check out the books at Popular first.
I have this set of Doraemon books :
http://product.dangdang.com/product.aspx?product_id=9165243&ref=customer-0-B
I think the other set is a lot smaller in size.
I bought my set of Doraemon books from Popular, if you happen to pass by the bookshop, can check first. At Popular, there is another version by local publisher, at the back of the book, there are the words \"日本小学授权\". This series is also good, the printing is clear, the words are not too small, and each book even comes with some Chinese exercises for the kids.
Tamarind, thanks! okie....I will order the 杨红樱 series the next time then.
Wah! It is so difficult to get hold of the Doraemon books that you have recommended leh. Perhaps I need to source through daigou liao.
May be you can call Popular about the set of colour Doraemon books first, they may still have them available in certain bookshops, or they may have new stocks coming in. -

I suggest that your get this series of books from Popular first :
http://tamarindvillage.blogspot.com/2009/12/basic-chinese-500.html
Then get some of the story books in my list. All the books are also available in the National Library, you may want to check them out first, and only order those that you think your girl will like. -

No problem. For English books, I buy from book depository. The prices are in US$ and they provide free shipping to Singapore. I did some comparsion and can find cheaper books there. If I place books in my wishlist, sometimes I am offered discounts on them too.
Hi SAHM_TAN!
Thanks alot for your comprehensive reply! I'm ok to wait 7 wks or longer so long as it saves costs! I've spent like way too much on books lately (english, chinese, activity, etc)... and I really need to save more!!
I'll try out the shopping cart, and see how it goes... will come to u ladies for help again if need to!
Btw... does anyone have good chinese book resources to recommend for a 2.5year old?
Cheers!!
If you leave book titles in DD wishlist, when there's a reduction in price, DD will email you., -

micollh,
Si Wu Kuai Du is recommended for parents who can read Chinese newspapers comfortably.
Parents must read 30 pages of instructions in order to know how to use the books effectively. Here is a sample page :

I don't bother to go to local bookshops nowadays.
For heavy hardcover books like children's encyclopedia and references, I buy from amazon since they have fixed shipping per book. Total price including shipping can be about 50% cheaper than Kinokuniya. -
Just want to know did anyone ordered books from DD in feb and the books had not arrived?
