Is there any minimum academic results for DSA via sports?

If you intent to apply RGS, yes, there is provisional offer for some sports DSA, PSLE >235.

I am very curious to know how these students cope with their academics - their schoolmates are generally 260 and above. If they can keep up, then it gives great hopes to others hoping to DSA into the school.

But a lot of these sports kids are very disciplined, and probably spent a lot more time on their sports than academic stuff prior to their psle. So their psle scores may not truly reflect on their academic capability, n with their disciplined character, catching up may not be a problem.

Also seen a couple of gep, tidah apa type, slacker, underperformers…outside people probably thought they were hothoused coz of the non stellar results. But can suddenly wake up after prelim n scored good enough for RI…definitely unreleased potential previously n not short of brainjuice…but one thing, may be difficult to work with as adult if donch change.

That is so true. In fact, those who are very driven and motivated, mostly do very well in both academic and sports. I have come to know quite number of them, when they were in primary school, from top class, as well as National Finalists; one of them even opted out from GEP, the parents felt his plate was already too full,:)

For those sports children who spend many hours training, perhaps they know they have less time to study, so they learn to study more efficiently (remembing Ksi); Sports also provide stress relief during stressful PSLE year, as least my DD said so. :lol

In my kid’s school, those girls who DSA sports have to change their class test timing and days frequently because clash with extensive training before competition. Very very disruptive. Some swimmers have to start practise swimming at 6am. Reach school about 8-9am. At least swimming pool in Bt Timah nearby from Anderson Road.

Why did u ask this? The PSLE result slip would have indicated the sec school and the time/date a pupil to report to when he/she is successful. Only those who had to go through the S1 posting would be informed where they are heading to on 19th Dec.

If a confirmation in the form of SMS is what you meant then do not expect it if you are not waiting for S1 posting. If you are referring to future DSA application then look into the PSLE result slip carefully for confirmation if you are not convinced with the confirmation letter that you will receive from the school that you have successfully obtained a CO.

I don’t think those kids who are successful becos of DSA will get an SMS. It should be printed in the official result cert. If you are still anxious, check with the prospective school what time and where to report.

                      All the best

Your DSA choice of school should be printed on the form that indicate what you are eligible for, like if u r eligible for 3rd Lang and/or HCL, etc.
So there won't be any SMS on which school posted but think will receive for which 3rd Lang if any.
