at this juncture, it should be wise for the parents/kid to do research on the curriculum of each of the IP school that has offered CO and then compare and make a decision before last week of October.

putting away brand names - to choose a suitable curriculum for the child in an objective way. any of the schools has great tradition; but friends are not unimportant ..... don't want the kid keeps saying 'aiya, all my friends are there...i am here alone' ..... though they will grow out of it and make new friends and lasting friendship. some of these sec school friendship will last throughout lifetime

it is not just about curriculum , the oppurtunities. Just spoke to one parent in school while waiting for DS oral to finish. Her DS in RI thru PSLE (sec 3) , his performance level compared to his class mates is low and he couldnt secure to enter any clubs he liked (cause he is not the top 10% or 20% and might be 21%) and demoralized. Kids must understand their capability and set the expectations accordingly

      +1. Totally agreed

      I had posted this before:-

I knew one of my DS schoolmates, he was the top boy in his pri school, school team of a popular sport which had won serveral zone and national award and Head Prefect. He scored 26x for his PSLE and went into RI via S1 posting.

After 2 months he requested to transfer to another school which he is currently in. When he was in RI, he just an \"ordinary\" student, there are many \"Head Prefects\", many \"School team captians\", many \"top achivers\". He was just one of them, nothing special. PSLE T-Score 26x was one of the lowest in the class.

Yes, understand that quite a number students who had T-Score above COP of RI and chosen other schools. How about DSA to RI? Those who has gone through the DSA process, anyone will give up their CO from RI??

Yes, I heard of a few cases whereby they have CO from RI, but chose another CO / WL like HCI / ACSI / DHS / NUSH.

Last year, DSA results were released on 11/8 for RI, and 24/8 for HCI. This year seems rather late…

Good Luck & Best Wishes to all parents & kids who are awaiting DSA results! All The Best in the PSLE too!!

I just wonder how many students or parents will give up a CO from RI, instead take up the offer from other schools? Maybe a few percent.

I have seen, also heard many parents and students who received multiple CO mentioning \"not sure which one to choose\", \" my DH and DS and DW perfer other schools but my son want to follow his classmate\", \"my heart is with my Alma mater, but my head telling me to go with RI\", ...etc. In the end also go to \"Bishan Hill.\" :? :? :?

well said. I asked the same questions few days before any one choose NUSH for RI no replies hmmm.

I am in same boat . I am :please: praying my DS takes wise decision and comes to reality that Brand name / Alma mater/long history/Friends wont help him to craft his future the way he wants.

In 2008 batch it happened that many of our GEP boys who have CO from RI & HCI chose HCI over RI. Todate, most of our high ability boys also chose HCI over RI with T-score above 260.[/quote]True. HCI has been attracting a number of head prefects, deputy heads and council members, many of whom are either GEP or top mainstream students studying Higher Chinese. T-score all in the range of 264-270. I personally know some of these bright sparks who received COs from both RI and HCI but chose the latter happily.
