Snow Crystal, are you referring to me??
DS has applied for 2 schools. Reason is because he couldn't decide on one & he likes both for different reasons. So in his case, there's no particular dream school. Beside, he feels that there's no guarantee to just apply for one. Initially, he plan to apply for 3 but I stop him cos I know he's not really keen on it.
My take is, parents should advise the kids to apply only for schools they're interested in. I agree with you that many times, the choices are between 2 schools only. If the kid hold more than 2, maybe they should consider to give up the others as soon as possible so as to reduce the anxiety of those children (or should I say parents) under waiting list. I realise that the parents are the more Kan Cheong ones. The kids seem to be able to take it better.
:rotflmao: no lah, I not referring to you! Not to anyone in particular. I don't like to pass personal attack remarks
I am just citing what I recall in KSP forum for some reasons parents give for hogging so many COs. Yes, most are only deciding between 2 schools  then please release Sch C,D,E for others asap if not interested. I rem last year some parents wrote that they actually inform the non-dream school rejection of their COs almost immediately - we salute such acts :salute: -
I do see the benefits of applying for two. I sometimes wish DD had applied for two... but she has only one dream school.
Now I cannot wait for next week. Hope we know by 31 Aug! :nailbite: -

If your dd has only one dream school it's good that she applied only to one. Less headaches than if she was offered a CO by her 2nd choice school and then wonder if she should accept it in case she does well enough at PSLE to enter her dream school right?I do see the benefits of applying for two. If your DD only has 1 dream school, then it's really no point applying 2 cos she'll not take up the offer of the other even though she's given the CO.I do see the benefits of applying for two. I sometimes wish DD had applied for two... but she has only one dream school.
Now I cannot wait for next week. Hope we know by 31 Aug! :nailbite:
Wish you & your DD all the best!!!! -

Your DD is set on her dream Sch - you should be happy she has a dream. This year the necks of KSPs with DDs are getting very long...I do see the benefits of applying for two. I sometimes wish DD had applied for two... but she has only one dream school.
Now I cannot wait for next week. Hope we know by 31 Aug! :nailbite:
Congrats those got co parents. My DS still got no news from RV. No interview, no SMS, no call and no letter. Just give up and told my DS to study hard for psle.
Yes, u r right. My DS may know that he was not selected at the end. But I have not officially told him about the slim chance of the Dsa. Instead, I talked to him that he worked hard in the coming exam, he would be rewarded and even have more chance for choosing yr dream school! Btw, we Dsa for RV ,our only trial,is only considering for the distance to our home I encouraged him chance always with u , but it depends on how much effort u put in! Besides, I told him if u r not good or competitive enough, even if u got a place in yr dream sch, yr life will not be easy! Giving him a true and realistic projection is always my notion!
Don't get too discourage . My dd also try for RV , no news too but surprisingly she was called for interview by another school which I don't expect at all. Perhaps her Chinese cannot pass RV standards although the school SA 1 she scores A and A * for cl and hcl.
Think different school looks for different talent .
Let work hard for PSLE !
Since my DS knew that some of his classmates had a chance to go for interview yesterday, he was a bit disappointed when he reached home after school yesterday. But quickly, he adjusted his mentality and told me he would work hard for the exam. I am more than enough at that moment. I analysed his weakness and strength with him. Actually, he is strong in languages, both English and Chinese. So I told him work harder in Maths and science so that he would excel in his exam. I also told him that I am not a demanding mum (as I was also teacher before, exam is not everything) , just do his best and I know how much effort u put in. We will choose a school that suits him the most. Give our child more encouragement and remember rest and entertainment cannot be ignored as well even in this kiasu period of time! :rahrah:
Same for my DD, 'no sound no picture' from the schools (2 only) that she applied for. Though I tell her that chance is not high, she should never give up. In the 1st place when she go for DSA, we are hoping and giving her another chance to go the dream school. However, if DSA fails, and continue to work hard for PSLE, she still stand a chance to go to her dream school and may even have more choices.... Anyway, I just cannot understand why shouldn't these \"DSA schools\" firstly inform those students who are rejected before they called the rest for interviews? THese poor kids while waiting and hoping to be called for interviews, they still have to struggle with their homework and revisions... Double stress!

-

So, RI looks at other areas too although academic results may be the most important deciding factor for most of the GEP students.Kiasucy:
