Hi,
Can I check if applicants for RI DSA (mainstreamers) need to choose to apply under 1 category, either English (& MT?) or Science or Mathematics?
I guess that for Maths domain, the supporting achievements will be the certifications from the various Olympiads and Maths competitions. May I know what types of supporting achievements or qualifications will support an application under the language domain?
After reading a few threads, it'd seem that RI takes very few students from the non-GEP stream. Nevertheless, if there are many more applicants under the Maths domain, does anyone know the intake of students under Maths domain stand similar chances as those applying under the language domain?
many thanks :rahrah: -

It is time to repeat this fact again :Hi,

RI's DSA intake is not a matter of supply or demand. More applicants under Math domain does not equate to more competition. Everyone is judged by his own ability -- how well he does in the selection test - demonstrated ability beyond peers. In recent years, SMOPS platinum is considered as peer performance, around 70 of them each year. So it is no walk over by arming with a piece of platinum from HCI (plastic actually). I know it is stressful. Better to know it and be prepared than to be bitterly disappointed.
Similarly, opting for less popular domain for the DSA does not increase one's chance of being selected too. If no one meets the criteria, no one will be offered under that domain, and the vacancies go into the S1 pool for posting or wait list for DSA
For mainstream applicants, I suspect some international competition awards could be more valuable than the normal UNSW high distinction. First round to clear is the GAT which should not be too difficult. 60 questions in 20 minutes.
Questions in round 2 (selection test by domain) are usually \"out of this world\" type -
Hi verykiasu2010,
Thank you for the explanations and for your patience
thanks. -
Anyone here whose kid is participating in Sotaโs junior academy (think itโs a new program) for those still in pri school (not sure if p5 or only p6)? Wondering if that helps in the DSA for aesthetics.

supermama:
Hi Supermama, you may want to 'hop over' to the NUS High thread under 'secondary school/ IP parents networking' forum to take a look or post your questions. If you are considering the school, it would be better to understand the program before making a decision, as it runs on a different system from mainstream schools and IP.Hi,
we missed the NUS High open house and would like to find out more about their DSA. Also would like to know what's the diff of the school with others.
Thanks! -
I have a question here (may have discussed previously but the thread is too long to go thru)โฆ Pls bear with meโฆ
For DSA through sport, let say if the child is in the school team (and the team met the criteria for DSA application) but as a reserve player. Will the child be eligible to apply for DSA through sport??
TIA! -
Hi may I know if my child does not have any CCA or any other achievements , can apply DSA?
