DSA 2012

:goodpost:Has been a silent reader in this site and going through the same agonizing moments of the DSA process. I share the same joy and disappointment with those who had gone through the process with their DCs. For me, it is finally over and I wish to congratulate those mummies and daddies who have successfully gotten CO or COs from their DCs' dream schools.
My DS has gotten 2 COs through 2 very different routes. One thru academic and the other thru sports. These 2 schools are very different in their school teachings. One thrives to achieve excellence at all cost (the past achievements of the sports came together with the email which confirmed the offer and the monetary incentives that will be awarded upon bringing in medals to school) the other is more holistic, as from the mouth of principle, result is not everything what matters is the building of characters.
We have a good problem on hand but after discussing with my DS and DH,
we have came to a conclusion. We think that pursuing excellence is not a bad thing but there may be lacking of good character building in the process of doing so. We would like our DS to grow up as a warm and compassionate man instead of just a cold individual who cares for nothing but pursuing good results.
Now I am actually feeling more relax after the decision is made and the pressure of pushing my DS to do well in PSLE is off my shoulder. Instead of achieving good TScores to get into his dream school, he is now focusing on doing his personal best for his own pride. Here wishing all DCs a good PSLE
result for this year. Let's do the dragon kids proud!

:congrats: to neko and dd!:thankyou: everyone!
Suddenly feel a litle
that dd's primary education will be coming to an end soon.
Very thankful that her former (p1-3) & current (p4-6) schools hv moulded her into a confident, inquisitive and mature young lady.
Looking fwd to the next phase in her life! Hope she'll continue to hv fun growing up :rahrah: -
:congrats:

Agree with your views regarding end-results vs character building, same too on PSLE. In fact, from my dd's mouth - this period is the most relaxed time since since p5.

Likewise,
Agree with both posts!!
Awesome to have more like-minded parents that emphasise more on character building than simply to be the best.
And yes, let the kids' memory of P6 be more than just PSLE. -
