MOE DSA-sec website states that all the IP schs admitted up to 50% of the sec 1 intake thru the DSA-sec exe. Wondered why SNGS only offered such limited places (lesss than 30)?

The SNGS intake for IP is probably <100? Or maybe <80 (ie two classes worth). So COs of about 30 is not too far off from 50% of 80 or 100 vacancies.

6 IP classes 5 o level. I spoke to the Sch on 15/8 n was told they can take up to 3 classes and that they have not reached the maximum and are not \" picky\". Looks like there's a change of heart

So disappointed to hear that the sch only have offered such a limited vacancies (less than 30) .

The DSA process for SNGS is really tedious.

SNGS DSA offer less than 30.

        i)
        out of 30 -
how many allocated to SNGS own affliated primary girls, how many to outsiders ?

        ii)
how many seats from SCGS DSA - also less than 30 ?
how many allocated to SCGS own affliated primary school girls first ?

        iii)
how many seats from MGS DSA ?
how many allocated to MGS own affliated primary school girls first ?

I would love to know too ! Can someone volunteer to ask the schools ?

No the IP classes n O level classes about half half , about 190 for each side . So if half the intake from DSA the number of vacancies should be around 90 plus ....so the actual no of places offered was way too low

If assuming SCGS and CHS also have IP intakes of about 200 each, they're going to have a mega JC. Considering there'll also be intakes in Year 3 and Year 5.

Yes, it is indicated on Child's report book. under position of level and position of class....

Considering different schools have differing level of paper, Admission staffs are well versed in these difference. They will make fair adjustment.
Each school has its own practice. Some schools do not indicate the position in class and/or level.

It's easier to compare the GEP students as they sit for the same paper & do the same projects regardless of which schools they're from. That could be the reason why overall score matters for GEP students.

This makes absolute sense as it's the same yardstick.

But for mainstreamers... the paper standard really varies.... Which probably explain why there is a demand for \"top schools\" papers and not exam papers from the other less known schools. No offence I am just stating a fact so don't 🦆 me.

Sometimes my friend with same age kid would say oh my ds scored eg 85 for maths. He is from a neighbourhood school. But my same age dd from a SAP school only mge say 70 and the highest is class is maybe 70+ and most of the cohort failed... I am not driving that neighbourhood schools are not good (that is not the intent) as we also have top scholars from neighbourhood schools. But my point is that it's really difficult to measure if there is indeed a standard difference until they sit for the same PSLE paper.

My DS was from neighbourhood pri sch (not so good in the eyes of many people as compared to other neighbourhood sch in the same area) during his lower pri. I remembered he scored 100 for Math. I brought him to market, & when one of the hawker asked him for his result & his school, he answered honestly. Guess what's the reply from the hawker : \"ai ya, that's a lousy pri school, no wonder you score 100\". It was so hurting for him. He then asked me : \"if he applied for DSA in future, will the sec school thinks the same?\" I really have no answer to it.

do ALL schools openly let parents know the position of the child in the entire school cohort ?
is this piece of info made readily available to Mainstream parents in report cards, or during PMT ?

Yes, it is indicated on Child's report book. under position of level and position of class....

Not all school, one of them is my ds school. only top 20 student will know end of the year.

This is actually getting more complicated I was just wondering if it is due to lack of transparency in this area or because DSA is mainly dominated by GEP students. :?

As mentioned by myself and another forumner, we do observed fixed score requirement for some schools. Eg. DHS, TKGS to name a few.

My kids' primary school stopped releasing the position in level. But will release class/ level performance for each subject so we know where the child stands... So with such information/ paper std inconsistency among schools, I really wonder how they calibrate.

It's easier to compare the GEP students as they sit for the same paper & do the same projects regardless of which schools they're from. That could be the reason why overall score matters for GEP students.

                        each year -
roughly what is the percentage (proportion) of DSA seats allocated to GEP students, and to Mainstream pupils ?
