SNGS DSA offer less than 30.So disappointed to hear that the sch only have offered such a limited vacancies (less than 30) .
The DSA process for SNGS is really tedious.
i)
out of 30 -
how many allocated to SNGS own affliated primary girls, how many to outsiders ?
ii)
how many seats from SCGS DSA - also less than 30 ?
how many allocated to SCGS own affliated primary school girls first ?
iii)
how many seats from MGS DSA ?
how many allocated to MGS own affliated primary school girls first ? -

If your child is from GEP, then overall score is matter.(some >80%; some >75%). If your child is from mainstream , it doesn't really matter, there is no fixed score required for DSA, but the position of child in whole school cohort is more important.
This is actually getting more complicated I was just wondering if it is due to lack of transparency in this area or because DSA is mainly dominated by GEP students. :?
As mentioned by myself and another forumner, we do observed fixed score requirement for some schools. Eg. DHS, TKGS to name a few.
My kids' primary school stopped releasing the position in level. But will release class/ level performance for each subject so we know where the child stands... So with such information/ paper std inconsistency among schools, I really wonder how they calibrate. -
ruohoo97:
do ALL schools openly let parents know the position of the child in the entire school cohort ?

Parents,
A general question. As the P5 and P6 papers set by each primary school is different. Can be easy or challenging.
But the minimum overall % score for some DSA schools are fixed, how do they reconcile such differences? Any insights?
I was just thinking... won't the child be at a disadvantage if their school set challenging paper versus one that don't?
is this piece of info made readily available to Mainstream parents in report cards, or during PMT ? -
so limited vacancies . shld have made known in their sch website during the DSA application .
-
MOE DSA-sec website states that all the IP schs admitted up to 50% of the sec 1 intake thru the DSA-sec exe. Wondered why SNGS only offered such limited places (lesss than 30)?

The SNGS intake for IP is probably <100? Or maybe <80 (ie two classes worth). So COs of about 30 is not too far off from 50% of 80 or 100 vacancies. -
MMM:
It's easier to compare the GEP students as they sit for the same paper & do the same projects regardless of which schools they're from. That could be the reason why overall score matters for GEP students.ruohoo97:

Has anyone received DSA result from DHS?
-
MMM:
Yes, it is complicated issue. GEPpers do have advantage in DSA (rightful or not, has been discussed in other threads). As some had mentioned, there are totally different selection criteria for GEPper and Mainstream. DSA is not fair play for the start. For independent schools, they have more seats for DSA (upto 50% or more?), while Govnt schools have fixed seats (certain %, can find out from each school's website), those schools which offer niche area will have even less places for DSAruohoo97:

So, parents from mainstream have to be realistic. Whether or not DSA is really depends on your realistic assessment of your child.. To prepare for DSA,my personally view is to start earlier, maybe at P4. From CCA to academic. find out which area where your child is \"OUTSTANDING\", then to BUILD upon it. If your child is all-rounder, (that has been constant advise from other experienced KSp from mainstream), just focus on PSLE. :xedfingers: -

Considering different schools have differing level of paper, Admission staffs are well versed in these difference. They will make fair adjustment.
