DSA 2012

You can still try, no harm. also, the school needs to write a recommendation letter to support your child’s application.

Correction not Prelim but P6's SA1 result.
One/two of the subjects should hit above 90 marks, if possible achieve it during P6 Prelim to gain extra chance. also, DC need to sit for GAT first before interview/.JJ1111:
My child has been getting above 80 marks (below 90) for all subject from P1 to P5. What is the chances of getting into Dunman High via acadamic and CCA leadership? She is not under GEP.
Should we try DSA to Dunman high next year? Or there is no chance at all?

Thanks.

Than I think no chance. My child since P4 has not exceed 90 marks. 1-2 subject is above 85 but below 90.[/quote]Of course have chance.... DHS only required above 80 marks and GAT. I believe gat result is a more important factor than the exam result for dhs -

Thanks. The recommendation letter should be from her CCA teacher or form teacher or principal? -
Normally principal will sign the letter.

I personally feel that if the child met the criteria for DSA to a particular school, there’s no harm trying for DSA. Take it as a learning journey & gaining of experience.
If the child or parent’s intention is just to secure a school before PSLE (ie, not necessary must be the prestigious school), I would then suggest to try sec school that do not have GEP domain path. I might be wrong, but I would think the mainstream students might stand higher chances as the DSA’s vacancy is open for all. Unlike those sec school with GEP domain path, a big portion of it will be "reserve" for GEP students.
To me, DSA is not designed to cater for GEP students. There’re many sec schools with DSA option, it all depend on which sec school we are applying for. -
Yes, try… My DS got CO from DHS with average result of 80+ with no recommandation letter… Honestly looking at the sequence of events leading to the CO, i dont think the letter is that much a factor too…

Thanks!!!!!!! At least I know it is still worth trying!!
Now just hope that my girl can score better in her SA2 and next year SA1.
Thanks again for all the KS parents for answering my query. :please: -

Thanks
Since he has a good reason, even if he does poorly for the PSLE, it is no reflection on his actual ability. I don't see any reason why the school should refuse to accept him as long as he makes the cut for Express, even if his PSLE score is below the school's COP. Your friend can always get some kind of letter from the Pr school to let the sec school know what happened.Kiasuno8:
Hi
My friend 's son got a CO from a premier school for IP course through academic but he fell ill since last week . Fever and stomach flu , unable to perform at his best condition . He afraid tht he may only get 230 plus . Although letter stated as long can get in Express but he afraid that school will not accept him or put him in some observation .
Needs your advice on these ! -

Dear Blue Dolphin, agree with you. It is still untested. Very new programme to them. As per my threads above, wonder why St nicks still remain so secretive abt their cut off points.
No worries. My guess is St Nick is IP newbie and does not want to waddle into a PR nightmare with bad or unfounded information releases. They do have a strong reputation to protect and an equally strong alumni to provide support. Should be fine. Hope the dragon year effect does not overwhelm the increase in IP places (as reported in the Sunday Times), and maintain/lower COP across the IP schools.
Just have to wait for announcements.
