We need a transparency from the way MOE produce the results of PSLE. New South Wales results are very impressive, they list down which part of domain that are weak, etc.
From my experience (my son is in GEP), it is absolutely NOT true. GEP students need to have aggregate score of 80% for their exams in GEP 4 to GEP P6 SA consistently to be exempted from the GAT or HAST (entry test).
Interviews are compulsory for all GEP pupils.
Those score 80% and above and those pass GAT/HAST MUST go thru' interviews.
I know of many GEP boys who did not score 80% are not offered any confirmed offers, some on waitlist and some rejections for all schools they applied.
I also know of some girls whose aggregate score is 84% and above(not easy for GEP) and consistently recognise as high achievers are not given confirmed offer for the dream school they hope to go to.
Also, no one will know if you fail or pass interview. There is no right or wrong answers in interview. Interviews are usually conducted to assess suitability beyond academic results. -

Or maybe just let GEP students try to consider other good schools since all schools are good...

Schools participating in DSA have information in their website. All terms are clearly explained. GEP students applying via GEP domain must have at least 80% to be exempted from GAT/HAST. Interviews apply to all. These are at least the criteria for the 2 school my child applied. Other IP schools would have their criteria stated in their website.
DSA is like job interviews, you won’t expect a prospective employer to discuss why a candidate is not hired. There are many factors in the decision making just like DSA e.g. track records both academically, CCA, other talents, interviews and etc.
If the child is not given confirmed offer in a school he/she applies, it just means that the school does not think he/she is suitable at this time based on what they have now. Of course the child can apply to the same school when PSLE result is out and meets the COP. -

Can I confirm again, for DSA to RI, per their website :-
Those who score 80% or higher for their overall Primary 6 marks (CA1+SA1 consisting of English, Mother Tongue, Mathematics
& Science) will be exempted from the GAT. Those who score less than 80% for their overall Primary 6 marks (CA1+SA1) will be required to sit for the GAT.
So does it mean that results fr p4 to p5 is not so impt to RI, for GAT exemption ?

Hi, good to dream, with all good intention, just to manage expectation, 3A* + A will not get 267. Till now have not heard of any case even with high 3A* + A =267, that is the T-score using SD.. just in case, if you looking at 4A*, then definitely is possible! Good luck and best wishes :xedfingers:
I have my reservations! unless you have seen the actual results slip! If my friends told me their kids got it, in all due respect, I will take it with a pinch of salt! B'cos none of my DD's friend with 3A* + 1 can get that >267 (from one of the top Primary school), all those that my DD and I know all with 4A* then >267~280. We know, we seen it in black & white!
Moreover, when my friends told me that her DD with 3A* + A = >265, I already take it with a pinch of salt! She always wanted and pushes her DD to go RGS since P5 , in the end, if her DD got 267, why isn't her DD in RGS? just FYI, her DD went to Cedar! what do you think? In the end, she told us that , oh, my DD like Cedar better than RGS! we gave her face , and wished her DD the best! -

My friend’s DD 2A* + 2A = 266.
Another friend’s DD 2A* + 2A = 265
I saw both their results slip. Both are very strong in maths so their t-score for maths must be very very high.
My DS 3A* + A = 258. His classmate 3A* + A = 268.
DS must have scored low As and A whereas his friend’s As and A are much higher than his.
PSLE scores are cal based on curve so all scores are possible. -

For my friend's daughter's case anyway. Don't know if your friend is lying to you though. -

jtoh is not a hearsay type of parent.
She is very helpful to many parents here. I respect her alot.
I endorse what she says that it is possible for one to get 267 with 3A*.
Please note that PSLE scores of different years cannot be compared across with each other.
Bell curve for each year differs.
A 267 may be a fantastic PSLE score and among the highest scorers in one year but a much lower ranking in another PSLE year. The A* range is a mystery to all for each subject due to bell curve effect.
In the year when the Malay girl got 29x for PSLE (2007?), there were many 27x and 28x scorers then 267 is a high score but not top top.
In a year when there is only one scorer getting 28x (2010 PSLE), very few 27x and most top scorers are squeezed in the 26x band, then 26x is a very high score.
In recent 2 years, I do note that the top scorers are more concentrated in 26x band than in 27x, 28x like in earlier years. Bell curve adjustment effect again.
Going forward, if MOE really implements the removal of PSLE aggregate score and move towards grade banding system, the whole dynamics shift again.
