There is a new Steinway & Sons dealership in S'pore, located in Palais Renaissance. S&S dealership used to be held exclusively by Robert Piano who also sells Kawai & the beautiful Shigeru Kawai pianos.
Anyone got a couple hundred grand to spare to buy a S&S Grand? You'll be playing on the same pianos as renowned artists like Lang Lang & Li Yundi. -
Hihi,
The HL125 was delivered to me over the weekend.
Love it alot. No regrets in getting it. And my DS has been playing with it every day... hopefully he will keep doing that
Someone ask me about what was given... they are the standard items:
Casters, polish cloth, polish lotion, keyboard cover, piano cover, bench, tuning and delivery..
Comes with 10 yrs warranty, 50% back-buy value from Piano Master.
Sounds like the sale rep huh, but i am not..
For those who have a tight budget and looking for brand new ones, should really consider HL125. Hear it and play it for yourself. -
MaryDaisu:
Congrats MaryDaisu on your piano purchase. I ever recommended the HL125 to my ex-colleague before. As she was an adult beginner, she didn't want to pay too much in case she can't sustain her interest. And she was also very happy with her purchase too.Hihi,

My son started piano class 9 months ago and his teacher said he is between Grade 2 to 3 now.
I bought a keyboard for him and I found it is a good decision for beginner. The model is M-audio Prokeys 88. It is actually called stage piano. It has three piano tone and one of them is grand piano. Matched with a good speaker, the sound is great. I will explain how good the sound is later.
I am against the ideal to buy a cheap piano (below $2000) for beginner for two reasons.
1) Cheap piano usually cannot stay tuned. As a result, it will damage your child’s pitch. Digital piano will stay tuned forever without tuning.
2) The tone usually is not good. This is important because only good music with good tone will keep your child motivated and do not lose interest.
One important factor of choosing keyboard is that the key must be weighted key (half weighted or fully weighted). Do not buy non weighted keyboard because the touch is totally different from piano.
In terms of investment, keyboard is better than a cheap piano. Keyboard do not require tuning. If you buy a cheap piano, you are fortunate if you can keep it in tune with 4 tuning per year. That will cost you 300. My keyboard cost me 900+ only. If you can find a used one, it will be much cheaper.
Although my keyboard still can serve my son at current level, I have started to look for a piano that can last him until grade 8. After searching for used piano for a while, I decided to go for brand new one. Here is my reasons. My piano teacher advised me not to buy a piano that is more than 10 years old. In Singapore weather condition, a piano can only last for 30 years. Most of used piano are twenty over years. I came across U1 less than 10 years but the asking price is 75% of brand new one. What is the point? There are good condition U3 also (around 20 years old). But I will not know whether it is a reconditioned piano. Rule of thumb is that do not touch reconditioned piano.
I eventually narrowed down to two to three models. Yamaha U3 or YUS5 and Kawai K6. I ruled out U1 because it is too bright. I am not good in piano. Probably same level as my son. Why I can tell the difference? Because the sound quality of my keyboard is so good that even for U3, I am not totally satisfied with the tone. YUS5 sounds slightly better than U3 but it is 2000 more. I am quite happy with the tone of K6 but was shocked by the attitude of their sales person. When I compared K6 with U3, an old lady called Adna asked me to go ahead to buy Yamha. Now I know why Kawai is not as popular as Yamaha. If their salespersons are so unprofessional, what will happen to after sales service? Seems like I don’t have much choice but to go for U3. -
I’ve a keyboard for sale, anyone who’s keen ,please PM me.
