then you are right, the mass remains the same but the volume will decrease.

            Hi All!

I have a qn from Conquer Sci assessment book Exercise65 Q2.

A syringe has 10ml air at first. After pushed the plunger in,the picture shows less than 10 ml.(picture showed in the book, before and after)
What is the true reading of the volume of air in the syringe after the plunger was pushed in?
Answer provided as 10 ml.Is that answer is correct? If yes why?

If we pushed in should be less than 10 ml as air can be compressed.
            Hi

It’ll be interesting to know the meaning of “true reading of the volume of air”. Why does the question setter use the term “true reading” instead of new reading of the volume of air or plainly the reading of the volume of air in the syringe after the plunger was pushed in.

I guess the best way to check is to seek clarification from the publisher of the book.

            Best wishes

                Is this the teachers@work book?
DD used more of the P5/P6 than P3/4 ones
I remember this book having some different questions and liked that.
But some answers/explanations were incorrect , (from the P5/6 book, I think). So do look out.

Which part of a plant is needed to make food?

                        1. Flower
                        2. Roots
                        3. Leaf
                        4. Stem

DS answered 3. Leaf, but the answer sheet shows 1. Flower as the answer. Not sure why, so would like to check with the experts here. Thanks/
The correct answer should be ( 3 ) as chlorophyll are mainly found in the leaves. Of course there are special cases where chlorophyll are found in the stem, such as in cacti, the leaves are needle-like, so the stem took over the function of making food for the plant. In a vague question like this, we will take it as the answer is the leaf. This is what lower levels are expected to know. There are times where we can expect mistakes in assessment books, so do practice caution whenever we refer to the answer key provided by the books, especially in section B, where key words and key concepts are expected in the answers.
