      happyheart:
My DS refers to this 3 main guide books. 1) Marshall -Science PSLE revision guide (orange cover), 2) higher block ultimate science, 3) Renee Chong Science Companion. Can parents here share if it is necessary for me to get the PSLE Ultimate Science guide to supplement? He is on his own when it comes to Science so I just want to supply whatever is required. Any difference in terms of depth of information?

      Thanks in advance:)
If you have both upper & lower block Ultimate Science, you don't have to get the PSLE Ultimate guide book. They are rather similar.

        Hi mummy so kiasu,

Thanks for your advice. I am sure your son is enjoying his new school and new friends! DS has science HOD as his subject teacher this year and she is extremely strict with answering techniques for section B, hence a lot of work and corrections 😓 But I am kind of glad since I do not coach him on this subject 😄

Son in P6 last year was still working on assessment books as there were still new topics. Past year exam papers were used but questions are selective few.

I started using this assessment for my daughter.
It’s Longman Road to A* Science by Lim Puay Chee…answers with explanations are provided for MCQs. But I still like those assessments which provide a clear breakdown of marks for OE questions.

            Hi,

Did any parents buy the i-Science parent's guide? There's one for P3/4 and one for P5/P6. Are they useful?

            Thanks 😄

            Dear SAHM_TAN,

                    I have this strange observation…

When my dd does MCQs from assessment books bought from bookstores, like "Nail those MCQs", etc. she often gets 100% or close to that.

However, when she does school test papers, she usually manages 80+% or even lower.

Any idea why? Do these 2 types of questions, ie assessment books and school test papers, differ so much in terms of difficulty level?

Actually I was wondering the same.

my DD also did MCQ practice using the Nail these MCQ’s and she get nearly 100% marks.

past year paper MCQ’s are more trickier actually…

maybe my ds is the weird one.

he gets more mistakes at Nail Those MCQs than Past Year papers.
for in past year papers, only a few of each topic will be tested and he usually has no problems (except for his weaker topics), but Nail has more questions of the same topic.
i am not sure which is trickier as reading the questions alone gives me headaches.
