Hi chan09 & von72
Thanks for yr feedback. I went into the website and realise they dont conduct the typical math enrichment. It seems like its a combination of IQ math plus leadership thinking? Is the program objective on leadership development or competition math? I’m rather confused…hehe -
You can try http://www.mathshub.com.sg.
They have proven track record in maths olympiad training. Highly recommended. -
Hi all,
I need some advice. My son is in P5 and I'm really keen for him to take part in some math competition. His sch's math HOD told me the sch will only send the top 40 math scorers (based on this yr's SA1 result) to a competition this yr (not sure what is the competition name but I think it's HCI one). And there'll be a prep class sometime after the selection. My son is in the 2nd best class and normally scores above 90 marks for math. But I really dunno what are his chances.
If my son get selected, good. He'll get trained by sch. Parents may have to co-pay for the training but should be subsidized, I guess. Now I fear he won't get selected and by the time we know the selection result it's already end of May. Will it be too late to sign up for private training class then ?
So I need some advice on what I should do. Should I be kiasu and start my son with private prep course now, or wait and see if he gets selected by sch ? If I enrol him into private course now and then later he get selected by sch, it's like waste of money lei. Cost is a concern for me, of course.
By the way I found this course conducted by SMS :
http://sms.math.nus.edu.sg/Enrichment/Enrichment.aspx#Primary
Rate is $10 per hr, very economical, but large class. However, website says they'll select participants if demand is too high. Anyone had experience with this course to share more info ?
Thanks in advance ! -
Just found out from Math Hub that for P5 there’s only NUS high competition they can take part, which is around July or later. They have a June holiday prep class for this competition.
