Hi, I think last yr some say that 2010 Junior is easier than 2009's.Hi CoffeeCat,
May I know SMO Junior 1 2011 compares to SMO Junior 1 2010, which one is more difficult?
Thanks
In my humble opinion, this yr's is probably more difficult. I have not tried the questions yet, but the questions look more non-routine and novel as compared to past years'. Usually this might contribute to the level of difficulty perceived by students. My ex-student just said \"quite hard\". -
Hi CoffeeCat,
Thanks for your information.May I know how many marks can get into the 2nd round for SMO Junior 2010 and 2009.

I have checked the answer(SMO Junior). My boy got 10 questions correct. I am very happy with this result because he is only a P5 student. May I know this result can get silver or not?
Hi leexue_dwx, getting such a score for p5 is indeed very outstanding. Has your son started MO training at a young age? He should do very well for the various primary level MO like NMOS, SMOPS, APMOPS etc. -
CoffeeCat:
Not all silvers will be invited to the second round.

Hi Justbehappy,
My son started SMO Junior1 training from December 2010 to May 2011 in maths hub. He met a very good teacher.
My son started MO training from primary 4, but he learned P5 MO. He got bronze in NMOS 2010. When he is P5 he has finished SMOPS and SMO Junior1 MO training till now.
All the MO training, My son followed by the same teacher. -

At P5, I think he must be the youngest contestant this year. LOL, the participants just get younger and younger each year, we are seeing more P6s nowadays.Hi Justbehappy,

He should probably start preparing for special round as I think he has a high chance of qualifying for it, since this year's paper is harder than last year's (cut-off at 11 according to an earlier post). -

My boy said if he could get silver, it is very luck for him. He doesn't think he has any chance to get gold. So he said no need to waste time on it. All the files of SMO Junior are sleeping on his bookshelf now. Anyway he is concentrating the coming NMOS 2011.
