Hi KSP, thanks for the reply. Just want to know that it is normal to have to charge the phone on a daily basis and not that I am given faulty battery.
Checked with a friend using iphone and she also said that she needs to charge daily. So now more assured.
Talking about being forgetful when getting older - I have lists of everything! Including a list on \"what to pack for holidays\".KSP:
Most of the power was used for the LCD screen. You can lower the brightness to save some power but must be comfortable for you.TREX8:
My Samsung Galaxy S is really draining battery quite fast. Thought initially is due to my \"playing\" with the functions but still seems to be rather fast.
I fully charged it last night and today, after about 20 sms later, it is about 70% only. I have already turned off auto connection to wifi and not getting emails pushed to my phone ... Anymore tips on how to conserve battery life other than buying spare batteries?
Bought a car phone adaptor to prevent being caught with a flat phone when outside.
Also, can't seem to find film protector for my phone. The earlier Galaxy S i1900 film doesn't fit perfectly (is smaller) as my phone is Galaxy S i9003.
Besides all these - am enjoying my phone cos the text and icons are big (good for my laohua) although DH just commented that I used it just like a dumb phone. I was quick to point out that I used google map to checked out how to get to a location just with a few taps on my phone
You can also set to manual retrieve for all your email accounts so that your phone won't keep updating the servers and can save some power.
I have 3 chargers (bought 2 more beside the orignal one from the box) for home, office and car....... and a spare battery (fully charged always in my bag. I used to survive with 1 charger when I was younger but now getting more forgetful as age is catching up. There was once I went overseas business trip without my charger. :stupid: :clubmyself: So now I don't take chance anymore.
For phone accessories I always go to places like those shop houses near bus interchange where they have all varieties of choices. -
anyone know how to enable an andriod to do internet tethering with a Mac?

that's the downside of the Samsung Galaxy S. The largest contributing component for battery drainage is the lcd screen. The super amoled display is supposed to draw a lot less battery than other lcd screens, somehow this doesn't seem to tie in with reality. My Samsung Galaxy S is really draining battery quite fast. The only way out is to get more spare batteries. Juice runs out, pop in a spare. Simple. If you get the batteries from Spider-foot.com, it's really cheap, about US$12 or so for 2 batteries and a single charger.
Yeah, charging your phone on a daily basis is the norm. If you forget, well, you pay the price. So, either buy extra batteries or get a dumbphone, which will last you for days on a single charge. Can't stress enough on the extra batteries.
If you're just playing with your phone at home, just plug the USB cable into your phone and \"play\" with it. That way, you're charging the battery at the same time and there will be no battery drainage, no matter how long you play with it. Unplug it only when you bring your smartphone out of your house.
If your DH says you're using the smartphone like a dumbphone, show him your high score for the Angry Bird game.
As for the film protector, just go to Sim Lim Square ground floor. In the center, there are a couple of shops that offer LCD screen protector. If you're not sure, just ask around when you're there.
They have a big piece and cuts it according to your screen size and paste it for you. Around $12 or so. I think it's worth the hassle. -

smartphones will kena virus a not?
not if you keep it away from people with flu, and spray it daily with Dettol.
if you get apps from the marketplace, you're generally safe.
One way to check is to see what permissions are needed to run the app. If a calculator app wants to access your contacts, or needs 3G access, then something is wrong. -

Yes, I charged everyday. If I play game or surf then 2-3 times a day. We can't compare the battery life of the old monochrome 1\" by 1\" screen with the current 4\" 16M colour HD LCD. The power needed is much much more. Yeah holiday is ok as we have time to pack. But my business trip is always last min super urgent.Hi KSP, thanks for the reply. It's always a good hygiene practice to keep our smartphone clean as it is getting bigger and has more surface contact with our face and hands.Daddy
