Could it be that he is finding this year’s MT work daunting? I know DS will leave all MT work to the last as he finds it more difficult. He will usually wait for me to be home to do his MT homework as he needs help identifying some of the characters. And sometimes, by the time I get home, he has clean forgotten about the homework until I ask him or when he is packing his bag for the next day.

Castle House, i understand how you feel!

Last year i was shocked when my p3 ds1's CL teacher called one day and told me he hadn't been handing in his homework for many weeks (somehow she kept on waiting). I had no idea that was going on cos he did all other pieces of homework diligently on his own without being prompted. (Somemore, inexplicably he always did well on CL tests.) It turned out he couldn't understand his new teacher who spoke with a perfect accent, didn't know how to seek help from her and didn't want to ask his parents :skeptical: . So like an ostrich he ignored it, the work snowballed and snowballed, his poor teacher :yikes:, and finally decided to check with us.
Took a while for us to dig out the truth though.

Maybe your ds has a reason that's difficut for him to articulate... and your patient digging will help you to uncover it. I think it's important to show him that you're on his side, so to speak, and will help him to work on remembering to do/hand in his homework. Sometimes it may be just a 'process' issue like not writing down the homework and there's just too much work given to remember every piece, which will be easy enough to fix 🙂

                    Hi..

I have not registered my boy for any tuition class or enrichment classes at the moment.

Same thoughts as you.. thinking P2.. so will monitor his progress and if possible to wait till next year.. 😓
