If for me, I will use it as my back up for Phase 2Cs. There will be plenty of vacancies left in new school after Phase 2C.Hi
Considering to send my son to a brand new school opening in 2014. Any parents have feedback on new schools? -
sembgal:
Errrrrr, not necessarily. In 2011, registering for kids going to P1 in 2012, Frontier Primary School, a new school with first intake for 2012 P1, was over-subscribed and balloting was conducted for parents living within 1km. So all the P1 students were balloted in.

Some parents like new schools becos of new facilities or impressed with the leadership or within walking distance to their homes.
Best to monitor situation and not take things for granted. -
It also depends on the principal who is going to take over the school. For those new schools, I did a background check on 1 principal who is going to take over the new school but was from a normal neighbourhood primary elsewhere. No comment for her. First time I heard of her name and first time I heard of her school.
As for that supposedly new primary school, the facilities have been used by another primary school as holding site while its own school undergoing upgrading. So not exactly new facilities. Check out the history of the school too.
Another point to note: those 3 new primary schools will admit children with special needs and allied educator will only come in by June 2014.
It's your own choice to put your child in new school but they will have to learn with special needs children as there are facilities designed for them, I suppose. If your child is the type to get distracted easily in class, putting them with SN will be a big no no. It all depends on the child's needs.

Alexandra Primary seems to be a good catch as the Principal and Vice-Principal came from well-known schools.

All primary schools are already equip or will be equip with allied educator/s as all primary schools accept children with varying learning abilities, including kids with mild special needs. Here's a link for further information.

As parents we want whats best for our kids. I feel its also important we teach our children not only to value themselves but tolerate the differences of others regardless of nationality, race, gender, social status and learning abilities. Lets create an equal opportunity, fun and safe environment for all the children. -
Dear all, thanks for the insights. Yup, Frontier was very popular for reasons unknown even for a new sch.
I am considering Alexandra primary. Meanwhile a volunteer for Radin Mas and will fall under 2b. Likely to have balloting even in 2b. -

I have received Primary School Education Preparing Your Child for Tomorrow book from my child's kindergarten. There is updated infos and registration details in this book. In this book, on the last page, there is an insert which mentioned about the 3 new schools with added facilities for special needs marked with @. You may like to refer to that page. -
Thanks sweetbaby, still waiting for DS to bring home the book.

Just asking out of curiosity. You mentioned in another thread that your dd is attending P2 tuition now. Does that mean next yr she will be in P3 tuition including science ?
Yes, if time permit! I will let her prepare in advance or even earlier (start this year!). dd had obtained very good result percentile rank in the children Vocabulary test.hoo1688:
That's why after reading all these, I realized my youngest has to start at k2 now.
My dd is also in K2, she has started attending P1 preparatory (English, Maths & Chinese) tuition class since she was 4.
For me, I prefer to prepare in advance rather than 临 时 抱 佛 脚 .
My targeted schools (GEP school or SAP school - under P2A) are very far from my house, estimated about 4 hrs traveling time a day (school bus – merry go round)!
If I change it to a neighborhood school (under P2C)? There is also a risk, don't know will end up to which school (balloting)? But dd has 4 hrs a day to learn other new knowledge or do her home work.
Do I need to try my luck?
Oh! this is a great challenge for me!
What is your opinion (advice needed)?
Thanks in advance. 谢 谢 -
