My son is also fed up of getting homework done. He is unlucky in the sense that his load of homework is due the next day. For some non-core stuff like xi3 zi4, I help him. Stuff like compo and comprehension is HIS. Project is daddy's work. Still giving project :faint:

Most of my son's homework also due on the next day. So far I only help my boy to pack his school bag if he fall asleep while doing his homework & using e dictionary to check meaning of words. Never try doing xi zi (Chinese writing) for him. Teacher might know it is not his handwriting. Just wonder how many mummies help their kids with their homework?

Less than 5 times in 6 years.....so far, it's to help them type into documents to submit. Other than that, they are totally on their own.....homework, pack bag etc.

I don't help my son to do his homework but I do help in teaching or advising him. I always tell him that as a student his responsibility is to study well and do his homework. However, as the psle preparation is heating up, he brings back more homework then he can finish in some days. I will get him to bed even though he can't finish them and write a note to the T. I even ask him to skip classes in some days so that he can re-charge up again but my DS think that this is unthinkable and refuse to do so 😄

My pet peeve with homework is that it can’t get marked fast enough. I don’t blame the teacher because it’s a mammoth effort to mark so many papers. For eg for maths, I feel It’s better to do 10 sums that’s targeted than a whole practice paper. If you’re talking about the top class kids, maybe that may help them coz they are already competent. For weaker kids, doing whole papers cannot bridge gaps.

Child already has forgotten what he has done by the time the work is returned and the teachers goes through corrections. En masse approach also does not help to improve right now. It’s about quality. Quantity needs to be focused on specific areas that need further drilling & familiarisation.

Exactly! Alot of homework from Art and Social Studies and such. Non-core subjects!

I asked DD not to do. But she says the Art teacher threatened to FAIL their report book!!
                Haiz!!

Ha..ha..what a joke! :rotflmao: Just ask him to tell the teacher that his mother said PSLE is more important. They don't even need to use their pri school report books to apply for sec schools. My son just spend minimum time doing the non core subjects homework.

My son had gone to his classmate's house to get 3 projects done..hope there isn't anymore. There is really no time now for any more projects.
