Came across this Sakura Chicken selling at a wet market, which is known to be a healthier and tastier. But not sure if that is true. Any comment pl?

I cook with it. I notice that when I roast the Sakura Chicken, the breast meat is more tender and moist. Regular chicken is drier at the breast. It’s quite a significant difference.

you are right, I steam it with mushroom and ginger, it really tender and tasty. The $9.50 for whole bird is well spent.

yeppie to find like-minded folks! i dunno abt the taste cos i keep the bones for soup & the meat to be steamed & blended for my baby. i choose to buy sakura cos supposedly no antibiotics fed to the chicken.

Yes I ate Sakura chicken… It is supposed to be free from antibiotics and all kinds of jabs. So the meat is tender and nice and of course it costs almost twice the price of regular chicken.

yes! its pricey. i might sound like a penny-pinching housewife (i’m not) but everything has really increased in price. From carrots, onions to fish and meat. My daily soup for the family costs at least $6 bucks. Let’s see, $3 worth of chicken/pork, 3 carrots about $1, 1 bittergourd about $2, 2 tomatos about $0.60 and some wolfberries.

1 sakura chicken from ntuc costs $8.60 (when not on promotion) and this only result in 2 portions of bones for soup, excluding the wings, thighs and drumsticks which i keep for the children’s dinner.
