        Hobbitworld:
Thank you unclelim and emoh for your helpful responses.

Yes son is considering the IB but I thought SJI is also offering the IB from next year so wasn't sure if that would be a distinguishing feature.
ACS seems to have strong camaraderie amongst the old boys.

How does it compare if one were to consider (a) it's academic strengths (b) it's openness to letting students participate in CCAs of their choice (c) it's emphasis on character and values development?
Hobbitworld, all valid questions and you can check with ACS(I) parents in the parents networking section. I am sure you will get good replies. But if purely from the IB perspective, I guess all would agree ACS(I) has a very good headstart and is already making waves with the past few cohorts' excellent results.

          hi,

the IB for SJI only start in year 2013!
according to the SJI website, they hope to start the IB in 2012

          http://sji.edu.sg/subpage.php?id=292

seems SJI is informing some primary schools that they will be soft-launching the Josephian IP curriculum for students with PSLE T-scores of at least 250 and above in 2012 and are expecting a MOE announcement providing additional information on the Josephian IP soon ...

            Hi,

Did you notice the letter is dated Sept 2010. MOE announced it this year 2011 that SJI will implement their IB on 2013.

            Cheers!

                  Hi emoh,

                  I extract the write-up from SJI’s web.

                  About SJI

SJI is a Catholic secondary school for boys founded in 1852 by the Brothers of the Christian Schools or the La Salle Brothers. It is the 3rd oldest secondary school in Singapore after Raffles Institution, which was founded in 1823 and St. Margaret’s Secondary School, which was founded in 1842.

SJI currently offers a 4-year programme that prepares boys for the GCE ‘O’ level examinations. From 2013, we will be offering both an Integrated Programme (IP) track and an O-levels track. The IP track will lead to the International Baccalaureate Diploma instead of the GCE ‘A’ levels. We focus on nurturing our boys to learn how to learn and to learn how to live so that they can be empowered to grow into men of integrity and men for others. We operate based on the values of Faith as our foundation, Service as our way and Community as our support.
