      SAHM_TAN:
      optimistforum, jia you 😄

      Thank you SAHM_TAN

I could not resist coming on, let's be honest I am an addict to this site - and there is no other better activity to be addicted to. 😉

I will try the subtraction with DS2, he is ok with other aspects of maths, adding, tables, bigger, smaller, longer, shorter - but struggles with subtraction. We will get there. :rahrah:

        Hello! 😉

I do not know whether will I be breaking the rules if I post the following in this thread? 😉 There's no separate thread for P1 Maths Assessment Books so I just have to post it here lioa 😂 :imsorry: - have to pardon me as my home scanner is not working well so some of the images might be a bit distorted 😂

        http://i56.tinypic.com/2zp1nro.jpg\"> http://i54.tinypic.com/oazz36.jpg\"> http://i54.tinypic.com/10nyuc6.jpg\"> http://i51.tinypic.com/14jbz10.jpg\"> http://i53.tinypic.com/21eukra.jpg\"> http://i53.tinypic.com/2rq2is4.jpg\"> http://i55.tinypic.com/2l9tz09.jpg\">

I have checked the Popular On-line and the EPH website but was unable to find this book. Saw it at one of the neighbourhood bookstore and ran through it. Was glad to find that it addressed what I was looking for - \"Heuristics\" :please: Was a bit hesistant whether to get it as the year of publication was 2007! But can't get my hands off it!

I have another P3 book by the same author \"Yee Fook Shiong\" and being using it to revise with my DD1. https://www.popular.com.sg/jsp/product/product_detail.jsp?vca001=112&vpd001=69817

I’ve been wondering what this heuristics things is all about and was worried it was something complicated that I had missed out on. Having seen those screen shots I realised that it’s just common sense & logic really!

And you know what I was going through the exact topic yesterday with my DD, about the position and how many people are there in total, And the only way I can think of was to teach her was to draw the stick man… hehehe… and she was able to understand… so next time i will tell her to draw boxes instead of stick man… hehehe…

drawings of stickman or even circles are acceptable. No marks will be lost. 🆒

for my daughter i will ask her to draw circles.

she is ok with it so far. She will draw the drawing as below..

then circle both the 4th and 5th position to show it is basically 1 person. then count them all. so the answer here will be 8 people in the queue.

                    Left 1st 2nd 3rd 4th
                    () () () ()
                    () () () () () Right
                    5th 4th 3rd 2nd 1st

i think other mummies will have similar methods which their kids understand.. 🙂

My pleasure, r_tiff2326 😉 ...I am also a \"learning mummy\" so just hope to be able to share what I have found. Not necessary this is the best but for me, at least, it helps me to understand more 😄
