the answer given may be wrong. i have checked the question and the figures are right. do u have the workings for the question?

      Hi

Siti, Rahmesh and Peter had 528 stickers at first. Siti bought another 32 stickers, Ramesh gave 1/5 of his stickers away and Peter was given as many stickers as he had at first by his father. In the end, all three of them had equal number of stickers. Find the number of stickers Siti had at first.

      Change 32 to 33, and you’ll get Siti ----- 171 stickers@first.

Due to time constraints, I’ll not draw the MD, just some pointers

      In the end

      Siti ------- 4u

      Ramesh ------ 4u

      Peter ------ 4u

      At first

      Siti ------- 4u – 33

      Ramesh ------ 5u

      Peter ------ 2u

      11u ------ 561

      1u ------ 51

      You may continue from here.

      Best wishes

      Hi,
      Can anyone explain why Siti ------- 4u – 33?
      Thanks in advance.

Thanks in advance.[/quote]For convinience, he takes 4u as the amount each has in the end.
If he had taken it as say n, then you have to deal with fractions, which will be more cumbersome.
        At first

        Siti ------- n – 33
        Ramesh ------ 5n/4
        Peter ------ n/2

          Dear friends,

I have problem in understanding Fractions for 4th grader and my questions are these:

          1)1-1/12-5/6

          2)2 2/3+1 1/9

          3)1 3/8+2 3/4

          4)1/2+7/8+1/8

          5)1- 2/11-7/11

          6)3 1/5-1 7/10

          7)8 1/4+7 3/8

Some word problems and Write the improper fraction on number lines.....(I will send these later)

          Thanks......
          1)1-1/12-5/6

          12/12 - 1/12 - 10/12 = 1/12

          2)2 2/3+1 1/9

          2 6/9 + 1 1/9 = 3 7/9

          3)1 3/8+2 3/4

          1 3/8 + 2 6/8 = 3 9/8 = 4 1/8

The rest, I think you should be able to solve them 🙂

          4)1/2+7/8+1/8

          5)1- 2/11-7/11

          6)3 1/5-1 7/10

          7)8 1/4+7 3/8

                twice the number => 2u
                half the number => 1/2 u.

                difference by 1.5u which is = 24.
                1u = 24/1.5 = 16.

                      Hi

                      Good Morning

5 Bowls cost as much as 3 plates.

                      1 plate ----- 5 units
                      1 bowl ----- 3 units

Joanne paid a total of $52 for 2 similar bowls and 4 similar plates.

                      6 units + 20 units ------- 52
                      26 units ----- 52
                      1 unit ------ 2

                      Hence, 1 plate ------- 10 (5 units)

How much money would Joanne save if she bought 2 bowls and 2 plates instead?

                      The answer is $20

                      Best wishes
