RI or HCI

Come to sec school, is it all about attentiveness and hard work to do well. Some of the iSpark pp got into 'O' level class also.[/quote]So how many \"O\" Level classes are there in HCI? How many in Year 3 and Year 4? How is the \"O\" Level result. I think the result is not pubished.
Yes, some do fade away despite scoring 270+ in PSLE.jtoh:

during the DSA process in HCI, we talked to some non-iSpark students. They openly 'complained' about difficult to catch up with the school work
Even non-iSpark students complain it's difficult to catch up? Tough! That's why must select your secondary school carefully.
Anyone can share please?
Thank you -
I heard from my DS that next year (apply to this year Sec 2) there won’t be anymore O levels class in HCI. Those who struggles will be put in the "Monitored IP" class, which is good becoz they can move on with the other to JC without having to take O levels. On the other hand, they are closely monitored, more resources will be put in to ensure that they catch up.
Frankly this the part that I like about HCI. They don’t just kick you out when you couldn’t make it. -
Blur Dad:
less than one class, or not even half a class......usually for each level

my ds is in p6 now and is decent in competition math. am torn between hci and ri. father is a former hci boy and wants our boy to go there, however, the recent smo junior results as well as imo results seem to indicate ri as a better choice. comments on the math programmes in both schools?
btw, not considering nushs as we feel she will not develop our boy the way we want to -

I heard they monitor till end of sec 3 and if the child still struggles they will prepare them for ‘O’ level, so I believe there will still be some minority taking ‘O’ level exam so that they have a chance to ‘switch train’ or ‘alight’ from IP ‘thru train’. Heard some of them who are week in HCL have to take part in GCE’O’ level CL at sec 3. So it need not be worried if the kids is week in Chinese MT and want to do CL instead HCL to go to HCI. So HCI does provide a lot of support to their students. -

The students who shine in SMO & IMO were already shining all the while in competition maths. So if your kid is among them, it depends on which school you like him to represent.my ds is in p6 now and is decent in competition math. am torn between hci and ri. father is a former hci boy and wants our boy to go there, however, the recent smo junior results as well as imo results seem to indicate ri as a better choice. comments on the math programmes in both schools?

RI has the Euler class, a pull-out class for those who are brilliant in Math. Apparently many of the SMOJ RI top scorers are from Euler. HCI may have something similar but I'm not aware.my ds is in p6 now and is decent in competition math. am torn between hci and ri. father is a former hci boy and wants our boy to go there, however, the recent smo junior results as well as imo results seem to indicate ri as a better choice. comments on the math programmes in both schools?

Yes, HCI does has a pull-out class for those who are brilliant in Math. The kids are picked through a selection tests given training from sec 1. For those who are not selected , they can still sign-up for the annual math competition like SMO if they are keen...etc The result will be recorded as their ACE point.

My DS has nothing but praise for the RI Euler program. He found math lessons uninspiring in his last 6 Pri sch years, the last 3 in gep. But now he feels completely inspired during every math lesson as he gets to explore more n he has learnt a lot from his peers, a few of whom are truly brilliant. Looking at this yr.'s SMO junior results, 4 of the top 10 are Euler year 1 students. 9 out of the top 10 are RI boys. Even my DS who has not attended external math training has been selected for SIMO training, all tks to the Euler n math club training plus RI's conducive math environment. There are many math exchanges n discussions amongst pupils. This year, the team that ri trained for the po leung kuk primary World math contest came in first. Tt's according to my DS. Hope ur DS will come to RI and be a part of the math-crazy community! -
