Even non-iSpark students complain it's difficult to catch up? Tough! That's why must select your secondary school carefully. -
Glad to see some enlightened postings. In an attempt to choose btw these twos or whether is suitable for hardworking pupils who mug consistently to get in, it all boils down to commonsense. Those who attempt to dsa thru sports or other talents have to bear the consequences of their choices a later stage. Many who eventually got offers later realise that they actually form a base for other bright kids to move ahead and excel. These students may actually be better off studying at other good sec schools and make their marks there. At the end of the day, vast majority of RI/HCI will still end up at local unis, so no difference at all.
Amongst many of the above. they may be some more suitable for applied education(free education at poly) ie O-level route-poly-uni. -

I heard from my DS that next year (apply to this year Sec 2) there won’t be anymore O levels class in HCI. Those who struggles will be put in the "Monitored IP" class, which is good becoz they can move on with the other to JC without having to take O levels. On the other hand, they are closely monitored, more resources will be put in to ensure that they catch up.
Frankly this the part that I like about HCI. They don’t just kick you out when you couldn’t make it. -

my ds is in p6 now and is decent in competition math. am torn between hci and ri. father is a former hci boy and wants our boy to go there, however, the recent smo junior results as well as imo results seem to indicate ri as a better choice. comments on the math programmes in both schools?
btw, not considering nushs as we feel she will not develop our boy the way we want to -

I heard they monitor till end of sec 3 and if the child still struggles they will prepare them for ‘O’ level, so I believe there will still be some minority taking ‘O’ level exam so that they have a chance to ‘switch train’ or ‘alight’ from IP ‘thru train’. Heard some of them who are week in HCL have to take part in GCE’O’ level CL at sec 3. So it need not be worried if the kids is week in Chinese MT and want to do CL instead HCL to go to HCI. So HCI does provide a lot of support to their students. -

RI has the Euler class, a pull-out class for those who are brilliant in Math. Apparently many of the SMOJ RI top scorers are from Euler. Yes, HCI does has a pull-out class for those who are brilliant in Math. The kids are picked through a selection tests given training from sec 1. For those who are not selected , they can still sign-up for the annual math competition like SMO if they are keen...etc The result will be recorded as their ACE point.
RI has the Euler class, a pull-out class for those who are brilliant in Math. Apparently many of the SMOJ RI top scorers are from Euler. HCI may have something similar but I'm not aware.francbat:
