Mindstretcher - Discussion

Imami:
Hi, what I meant was the counter customer service staff's attitude. The teachers at MS Bishan are ok. The materials at MS are good. Though some were copied from assessment books or downloaded from Internet. If you can afford to send your child to MS, why not? Just that you have to go through the worksheets with the child. The teacher will go through the questions in class with the students and write down the answer on the board for them to copy and check they got the right answer. It is really important to revise the worksheets with the child. Another factor to consider is the travelling time. No doubt MS Bishan is HQ and I like the layout of the classrooms, my child is exhausted after travelling. The poor child has to sit in class for 2 hours before dismissal. Therefore, it's better tofind a centre near to where you live.sembgal:
MindStretcher students go to Just Education for tuition. How I know? U go check with Just Education staff. If one child from MindStretcher cross over to JustEducation, soon all the rest will follow. Eventually, one by one leave and that is when waitlist students get in. Sometimes, it has to do with the attitude of the staff at MS too.
Wah.... Is it? I am not doubting you though, just that if students are withdrawng becos of the attitude of the staff, then their attitude my be quite quite bad.... -
Thanks sembgal but no, I am not considering ms at all, for the time being. But if I do consider, definitely ms bishan is my choice.

It seems that many parents are withdrawing their children from MindStretcher. My children in True Learning Centre told me that some of their classmates were formerly from MindStretcher (yoha@Jurong). Both centres are located under the same roof. -
I have withdrawn both DS from MS gradually since last year. Perhaps it depends on individual but both DS did not benefit much attending their lessons (Bishan).
Some of the teachers do the worksheets in class and do not assign additional hw. When they go thru the answers, they asked the students to copy the correct answers from the board but not much explanation. That’s the feedback from my then P3 & P5 DSs.
I like their worksheets questions though. Hwr, as my DS did not improve from their lessons, I withdrew them and put them in private tuition instead.
I have a friend whose DD used to attend MS (woodlands) and her results maintained in the 70s (scored high 23+ in PSLE). Her DD enjoyed their lessons that’s was why I enrolled DS in MS but quite disappointed overall. -
Scaredymum,
Which subjects are you referring to?
We just started on english. It seems the norm that for english, a portion of time was spent on doing and going through worksheets in class, similar to the other non MS centre we were with last time. -
I am referring to Math & Sci. But it’s teacher dependant cuz my 2 DS of different levels got the same teacher teaching them Math & Sci respectively and her method is exactly the same. Students take an hour to finish worksheet in class and she uses the next hour to go thru the answers with them (copy the answers from the board or OHP). Both DS complained about not understanding her.
