If there's one more additional plus, it'd be the big one on the ambulance that drives me to the hospital

Hi Chief

I see it this way:
GEP :
1) covers the subjects that main stream covers too. But on these subjects,
2) GEP covers more chapters (width)
3) more difficult questions (depth).
4) GEP also learn aptitude related skills.
For IP ,
1) subjects covers, are eventually same as mainstream (at the final A level exam)
2) learn aptitude skills
GEP has 4 “jobs”; IP has 2 “jobs” -
No worries, I know
I'm just having a bit of fun on this boring morning. Your stuff on the implications of GEP is significant and should bring pause to parents who are driving their kids to take up GEP. -

OT: Oh, comparing IP & GEP?... I believe laughingcat is in a better position to comment as her kids seem to me highly competent in research, but I'd say, the gep children would be well-trained in IP Year 1 research methodologies by P5. When they do enter IP Year 1, they'd find other things to optimise their busyness so not to worry about duplication of efforts

While this is true in certain cases, in some IP sch, students get to do pt 2) and 3) too. For e.g. I know that in RI, a proportion of students (hearsay 25%) are doing beyond A level for selective subjects (and these include MS kids).

I suppose the nuance is that all GEP kids are doing beyond PSLE level. -

Maybe those are the students from the GEP: continue their academic++ from Pri to A level?

If GEP kids managed it in Pri, it is logical to allow them to continue academic++ in next stage -

In RI, advanced subjects are called RA. Like I mentioned earlier, it’s not just the ex-GEP kids who are taking RA. There are also ex-MS kids who are taking it. Some ex-MS kids are even taking the max 2 RA.

RA is not limited to just ex-GEP kids. From what I know, RI doesn’t distinguish between GEP or MS and classes are mixed between them nowadays. During ds’ time, to take RA at Y1, all students have to go thru selection tests and interviews, even if he DSA successfully via that subject. It’s the same process at Y3 and Y5. -

Thks. I presume MS=mainstream.

Could it be IP schools could further customise IP curriculums: having different one for different group of students? Especially the independent IP schools?
Just like MOE’s GEP selection during primary,RI is having similar one at Y1,3,5
