Notice in Secondary one DD hardly has homework for CL and most of the homework is Math and Science.

There is totally no 习字 and 听写!

Think CA1 will be coming soon as DD has done some of her school past year papers for some subject.

How's the Chinese paper format like? ds had their comprehension test from news paper article. The questions based on the article include a cloze passage,true or false and open ended questions. Wonder if it's the same for your dd and the rest?

Besides math and science hw, dd has geo and history ws.
She is involved in public speaking; topics include "should white-collar crimes deserve a heavier penalty (something like that) ?" which is quite interesting.

How's the Chinese paper format like? ds had their comprehension test from news paper article. The questions based on the article include a cloze passage,true or false and open ended questions. Wonder if it's the same for your dd and the rest?

Sorry for the late reply.

I'm not sure what is the format for their Chinese Paper as I only saw one 测验 worksheet couple of weeks ago.

The test is 70 marks with:

1) 填写字词
2) 综合填空
3) 阅读理解一
4) 阅读理解二

I am also not sure will there be a CA1 for CL Exam as next week will be the last week of term 1 and seems that next week only left with Geography test.

Perhaps in Secondary school the teacher expects them to learn by themselves instead of given the 习字.

Hmm... I have quite alot of Chinese hw. Math and science being less. History there's no homework and Geography there's quite alot

I still remember DD xi zi during the P5 and P6 (under same CL teacher) was about 25 pairs (生字) x 8 times per chapter!

Now she can bye bye to xi zi lah!

No problem....Brenda! Thanks for the info. It's about the same as ds school. Except there isn't any '填写字词' I think.
