For me, being a KS parent, i will use it's Sec 1 admission cut-off point as a gauge of it's standard. And among 'neighbourhood' schs I regard autonomous schs as the more elite ones.:?:

my elder boy is in KCPS, tis year sec 1. I hv no complaint abt sch curriculum cos compare to other neighbrhd sec sch, KCPS hv extra enrichmt cls within their normal sch curriculum, eg, drama, modern dancing, computer lessn. Its compulsory and fee is nominal thru edusave. So far gd character and leadership building sch. For academic, they dun hv much homework bt hv freq modular test, parents cn login to e web to chkout hows child academic perf. So far, no ‘gangster’ or ah beng type of ppl in my boy’s class, he sm happy there, since so close to home2.

Hi Pokemon and parents who have children in KCPSS,
I am intending to transfer my son to KCPSS next year in Sec 2 (he is currently in Sec 1 in another secondary school). Reason for transfer is two-fold - firstly, we are relocating to Bishan next year and secondly, he is not fitting well into his current Sec Sch, which is an all-boys sch. One of the reasons is that his classmates are all computer mad, and the sch has too many group projects but are not equipping them with project work skills. Worse still, the boys are not academically-focussed, disruptive in class and unhelpful. Some teachers are incompetent and strike me largely as uncaring. There were occasions that he could not find a group to join and instead of helping him, he was penalised for it. These are only sec 1 students, and obviously they don't care about the need to take time to learn skills like teamwork, communication, cooperation, etc.
Thus I want to put him in a co-ed school, which in my opinion is often less extreme as the presence of both sexes usually helps to moderate the situation. I want to know if the teachers there are caring and whether the students there are generally ok. I am not looking for an elitist school; just one that my son can fit in and be able to learn and grow. Sec sch years are formative and instrumental for him to develop the right values and character, and I just want to make sure that he is in a school that is supportive of this.
Would appreciate it if someone can give me some feedback. Thanks!!pokemon:

Hi cyberpie,
So far i dont see any of those problems that your son has encountered in KCPSS. But KCPSS dont stress too much on academic, rather the school emphasize more on character building and co-curricular activities. They dont have that many group project work as well.
According to my boy, there are a few unattentive boys around but they dont cause much harm in class. As for their teachers, majority of them are quite helpful and friendly to the students, of course there are still some boring teachers who are not that good in communicating with the teenagers. At least the school does attend to parental complaint promptly. Hope all this helps. -
u check urself, i think they r affiliated to SAJC… so can have 2 bonus 2 points if choose saJC as 1st choice JC

I don't have children in KCPSS but I live a street away from the school. Academically, can't say but behaviour-wise, I think they are top notch. Generally, they are well-mannered and polite. No loitering at neighbouring void decks or playgrounds.
At Junction 8, u hardly see them hanging out. And when u do, the constrast between their behaviour and the brandname 'white uniform' school cannot be missed. The students are quiet, helpful and do not hog tables. On the other hand, the boys from the other school are loud, brash and arrogant. Once, Dh chatted to one of KCPSS boys and the boy spoke very well and addressed Dh as \"sir\". Dh was most impressed. :salute:
Just my two cents... -

Hi Dotti, thank you. Good to hear that the students don't loiter at the void deck and behave well.

i think every sch has black sheep. i've seen some hanky panky below void decks. Also i feel many of the girls' skirt are too short. :censored:I don't have children in KCPSS but I live a street away from the school.
